Most reviews of 7 compare it to Vista and say why it's better than Vista and why you should upgrade. Not useful. Tell us why it's better than XP and why we should upgrade from XP to 7. What is the added value? I have yet to see it!

wait and see the programs start to require new windows. its how they always monopolized the market
Sure, but until then I see no reason what so ever. And it'll take a few years before most programs REQUIRE 7, as they don't want to miss out on sales to all those folks still on XP

wasnt one of the main upgrades in 7 that the whole GUI is now totally run on the GPU, and not by the cpu?
So, turning it in classic mode won't affect perfomance that much..

Because Windows 7 can take better advantage of the GPU and uses the Direct3D 10.1 API, it is able to reduce reduce memory consumption (in the graphics system) by 50% per each window rendered. On top of that, this is also what enables the much richer animation and styling of the interface like the “color hot-track” feature.

Hmm not much talk about Win7 itself, just much talk about WinXP and how "good" it is.
Im running dual Win7 x64 setups linked with a netbox, and havnt had any problem at all with either music production or video post-production.
Those who still are running WinXP, you defo should change to Win7, its faster then XP, has alot more features and tweaks that can be done, and because of the fact that it looks like Vista doesnt make Vista.
Vista was a "hurry" stage OS wich microsoft also noticed and started to work on W7.

Running W7 and aint planning on going back.
Well, I was reading some reviews about Win7 performance (http://www.maximumpc.com/article/reviews/windows_7_review), and they say that it is somewhere from 1% to 5% slower than XP (except for file transfer over network), but I fail to see as a enough reason to reinstall everything from scratch
also, this says it's not really faster (or slower) than XP, so no difference.

2 days ago decided to upgrade to w7 as the old xp filled up with viruses and took very much time to open a damn mozilla. it installed faster than xp and the main thing that i am happy is that it's resource friendly. i have a 2ghz sempron, and 512 ram atm, and the ram never went over 90% with 10 tab mozilla opened and programs installing. surprising as the xp took 700mb of ram for mozilla, 7 svchost programs and nav.
i'm pretty happy about this upgrade. still curious if those send/don't send errors will appear under a new w7 look.
