Just wondering how you would make the old skool rave sounds that were commonly used in, well, rave music.
I mean the buzzy sorta sounds and also those hoover things. Are they sawtooth waves but ones that have had plenty of distortion and effects added? Just guessing .. Would I be able to make sounds like them with Reason 3?
Thanks ...
P.S. In old skool jungle (Omni Trio, perhaps 2 Bad Mice, etc) did they use the amen break, but pitched up, as the beat?

I use Reason 3. I knew I wasn't the only one.
There is actually a patch built into the reason sound banks for the Hoover. It is actually quite good, but to make it sound better (like in hardcore/jungle), put the combi through some fx like delay, reverb and filters.
Lots of people complain about the Reason banks. But at the end of the day, they are just like coloured paints on a canvas. by mixing one paint with another, you can create a far more interesting picture.

I think it's mostly daring to detune more than you would normally
if you're using FL there's also a wicked generator called Envelope Controller, it allows you to make internal controllers (activated by sending midi to them) with great flexibility: Envelopes, LFO's, whatever you could wish for
