How to make a decent sounding DnB Loop? |

Hey all
Now, everytime I get a good melody in my mind, I always try the best I can to make it sound like I want it to. Now, to get the matching breakbeat loop, thats where my idea gets fucked. The drums and the kicks n snares doesent go in harmony with the lead melody. That's why I want to make my own beats. I always try like 20 mins to get just SOMETHING to sound good, but I judge myself too much, so offcourse, "It sounds cool, but it doesent sound cool.".
So, are there any Breakbeat heads out there, who DONT uses sampled drumloops, that could show me how to make a decent sounding drumloop, without using any other loops? I got plenty of kicks and snares in my lib, now's just to mix em together, and make some heavy shizzle.
I kinda like the beat on this one:

and this one:

FYI, I use FL 9. Offcourse, I am open to using other software for making the drumloops, but thats all I will use it for. I will use FL as the Main DAW.
Thanks

I think most people use loops or parts of loops when creating there own breaks. Partly because having a break played by a drummer normally gives the loop a more natural flow. I think, the secret is cutting the breaks and arranging and processing them into something of you own, which is just practice.
Once you have a basic break, it is pretty easy to just layer other hits with the loop.
If you use just individual hits. Most people tend to end up with something sounding very robotic. It takes years of experience to create something like Paradox does using hits and I'm sure he layers his hits over breaks to get the natural feel.
I think you would find it a lot easier loading a pre-cut break into you DAW and rearange and add effects to it to be honest and get an idea how a break works. No point trying to run before you can walk.

yeah exactly, love to do a robot beat time to time. but it gets tiring and if you only humanize it a bit it becomes loads better...

As you can see from the samples page I've been doing this. You tell me if it is any good. I can teach you how to do this, but it takes time to develop your skills.

Ah, BD, I like your breaks. If you got some spare time, I'd be honored to get some breakbeat lessons.

its a published song file so you cant nick my sounds
but it might set you on the road to some good drums. also should mention this is the way of doing it with breaks, im sure bds non break tut will be v v handy as breaks are gettin a bit rinsed nowadays, even a combi of the two techniques would be good. |
Aww.. Well, offcourse I was planning to rip them from it, then give myself credit for making them, and I would NEVER tell ANYONE about a guy named Demure, who made it.
Lol, if I wanted to nick your sounds, then I wouldn't make this thread. This thread is about me, not wanting to use presampled loops. xD

If you want, I will upload my drums for my current track.
It has 2 amens, headzbreak and tighten up break all mixed into one. The amens are only using certain hits, same with the tighten up.
give it a listen and if you want it, I will put up a reason file
