hi, im new to posting really, sorry if this has already been covered...had a look using search but didnt find anything....
im not entirely new to producing but recently just started to want to make my own impressive breaks instead of using just old loops and breaks in my tunes like i have done so far....
im using logic 8 and want to compress individual hits such as the kick mainly but dont know how to do this? suppose same works for using reverb etc on these hits....do i send them to a bus somehow?
any help appreciated, cheers.

No idea about logic, so I can't really help you.
But I would like to say that I have quite often read that you shouldn't use multiband compressors on drums. I would like to add, this is bollocks! I use multi band compression nearly all the time on my drums. I find that it helps 'glue' the drums together and make a drum that would normally sound out of place to a different kit, fit in a lot better.

When creating your own drum breaks it works best if you put everything on a separate channel. Even when you are layering stuff such as snares you can put each one in a separate channel.
You can then apply effects, compression, EQ etc to every drum element individually, or you can group them on busses, and process them together. The possibilities are endless

n00b guess as I dont use logic but what you can do is create as much ultrabeats as channels you want.

you need to use the aux channels. dunno about ultrabeat beacause i used logic 5 but i imagine it wont be too different. you basically need to use groups. in the groups section on the esx24 in the edit mode there is an option for out put. you need to click this and you will get 8 aux channels to c hoose from i think
