Hey all.
Alrighties, first of all, I dont really know much about music production. I dont know what all those fancy knobs in those DAW's and plugins do.
As I said, I am completely new in music production, and I want to make some nice DnB music. I have tried FL Studio, Reason, Reaper, Adobe Audition, and Studio One, while I found FL easiest to use, since I spent most time with it. I know that I can get better with the other ones, too, but if you once have been in my situation, you know the feeling "Omg omg.. So many buttons, how am I supposed to learn AND remember that? Its so complicated..
" and I feel like that when I switch DAW's. Offcourse, I am willing to learn, but since I dont know the program, and all the stuff it can do, then I dont know if it can do what I expect of it.
I'd like to go on with FL Studio, but I keep hearing stuff like "Its a kids DAW" and "No profs uses FL" and all those comments, then I cant make myself download it again.
So, if you can proove my FL theory wrong, I would be happy.
Or, if you could suggest one of the ones I already mentioned, it would be great, too. But, it needs to have these specs:
- Can handle VST(i) plugins
- Got a good Piano Roll
- Must be easy to use, and n00b friendly
Thanks.

Heres a quote from the "Picking a main DAW" thread:

its as c/b says m8
use wot you find most comfortable.
im not going to say this is better than that,
try them all and make your own mind up.
then you will have an informed opinion of wots out there.
and 1st release daws like s1 will NOT have a lot of features that the other "big boys" all ready include.
so no point saying this and that is shit just because it wont let you do something.
s1 (for instance) duznt have rex file support, but a realy great work around is get hold of uvi workstation rex player vsti, its free from the uvi website.
1/ i like free,
2/ uvi and s1 seems like a perfect blend.
(espesh when you can drag n drop the wave file from uvi to the workspace in s1, then treat it like audio).
a happy work around and a free work around thats wot we like.

dunno really. Id say have a try at Reason regardless of no vst support. because of the way Reason is set up, with the modular interface and a look that emulates of how real machines work, plus you can rewire it into fruity loops or some other host and gain VST support.
one other thing, dont listen to people saying fruity loops is kids DAW. fuck, I am the one to tell you exactly that BUT THAT IS MY OPINNION and it has got fuck all to do with your choice. in short - fruity is for kids BUT it is nothing to be ashamed of if it enables you to achieve what youre looking for. different strokes for different folks.

Listen to the tracks from TOMOS on here, they were done in FL studio. CULTURE BOY also does his tracks in FL and so do I. Not that we're signed or anything, but the DAW is not responsible for that.

Does Spor use FL?! I thought he used Cubase.
Spor's Stompbox Remix was the first ever DnB I heard!
Thanks for all your replies!
Can anyone suggest some free DnB VSTi's and such? I cant seem to find any good ones. xD

As I said, I am new to FL, but willing to learn. If there is anyone out there, whos got loads of free time, would it be possible for you to spend a bit of it, on tutoring a newbie? (Yes, me xD)
Only if you feel like it
Just reply it, and I will give you my MSN!
Thanks people, for this nice comunity!
God bless DrumNBass.be!

I can tutor you a bit if you're using FL or Reason, but I don't have experience with any other DAWs.
I've tried Studio One but I haven't figured it out yet.. it's like FL but it has different keyboard shortcuts.
Tbh the switch from FL to S1 is hard for me because they feel almost exactly the same but my workflow is cut into shreds when I use S1, so I've just been sticking with FL.
The FX that come with it are sick though, they seem really quality.
Anyways send me a PM and I'll add you, jeffijoe. I can get you started in the right direction.
Also stay active on the forums, there's a ton of really awesome people here at Dotbe who have a lot of wisdom to share..
