hi guys another question from me (all your other answers have been put to good use)
i have a accapella that i have chopped in segmants chorus,hook etc etc and just needed to know how to stretch these vocals to fit my 175 track.
i know there is maths involved which aint my strong point i know it's something like length * speed * bars i think.
im using cool edit so if you have any pointers then i'd be more then greatfull

cool edit, ha. i dunno what to tell, you it's hard to strech it once it's chopped up after.... i like to strech them all in one go.

albeton live is better for that.

What is the original tempo of the samples?
You can stretch them in cool edit too. I can't remember how exactly but you can use the helpWink I think there is a stretch effect on the effects list.

make at least one of the samples fit by hand

from the lenght of the original snip (l) and the new lenght (n) find out the percentage of stretch (x):

x / n = 100 / l

from which

x = (100*n) / l

"100" is actually 100% of speed of the original sound. you dont say if you have to slow it down or speed up, so the (x) is going to be either a bit below or over

if the daw doesnt have percentages but multiplication, multiply number 1 with the percentage you get from the equation...

yeah and tell me if you tried it cause this is all improvising, never really tried Big Grin

_edit: dont decrease decimals in equation. the more precise you measure the lenght, more precise the stretching percentage will be...

Personally I think the easiest way would be to download reaper, load the sample in that and then simply press Alt and drag the edge of the sample as much as you want it time-stretching. You might also want to change the time-stretch algorithm too.
