So the battery of my laptop broke down, doesnt do anything anymore. I've tried starting the laptop with the battery out, but then it has no power at all.

Anyone happen to know how I could get the battery to work for just a little while longer, or even fix it, without having to pay €100 for a new one..

I would take it to a repair shop. Im sure laptops still run without a battery.

My nan had a good trick with dead batteries. She used to put them in the oven for a while! Not sure what tempiture though, oh, also I don't recommend it either for obvious reasons Big Grin

If you're sure your battery is broken and not your laptop:

Then it is obvious the battery is mechanically, electrically ,electronically (or some combination of these) needed to turn the laptop on.

Bypass it

mechanically:

maybe if you insert the battery some small hidden dipswitch is pressed

solution: use tape

electrical:

the battery itself can act as switch, this by forming a conductor to verify the battery is inserted

solution: short circuit those 'sensing' pins

electronically:

the laptop can take some reserved power from the battery (also extra pins)

solution: use a power supply

measured the voltage the adapter delivered and it was 7.3V in stead of the 19V it should give, so the problem will be there probably. My Mistake

not like you can grab a used battery, it has to be new.
