Hi everyone.
If its ok with you lot, I would like to do a two minute competition. Doesn't need to be spot on two mins, just no full length tracks ie.6-8 mins
I have put some sounds together that I am using for my latest messabout. All sound are my own and made with Reason 3. There are a few old school drum loops aswell and a couple of vocal stabs. Please be creative with the vocals. ie. Timestretch, pitch, cut, distort ect. Partly, because I don't want to hear the same samples on each track and copyright reasons
Not that I'm worried about that
There are a couple of pad sample that I have made, try being creative with them by using fx on them, same with the bass sounds.
I reckon two weeks is long enough for this. Just pm me the link to your track and I will collect them and put them up for voting.
The drum loops are mainly in REX, but there are a couple of wavs aswell. Please don't use the Digital - Gateman loop I ripped as it is for obvious reason
Try and be creative with the sounds and edit them as much as possible. Use delay, filtering, stretching ect.
I'm not going to enter the comp, partly because I'm doing a track with these sounds which is nearly finished.
The link is here for the samples.
The password is 'dotbe' ,without the '
Feel free to leave any comments/ideas/suggestion,
Winner get a Throwing Star from Halph Price. It is the one that I won in the last comp. I am still waiting for it to appear though

Fantastic mate
I've changed my mind. I am going to enter a track. Don't worry, I'm only using the samples, no live edits in reason
Spent about 2 hours on it and it is nasty
Not sure if my neighbours are enjoying the sub or not
Actually quite enjoying using sample for a change
Bet ya all panicking now!
The pack has been downloaded 8 times now, so I'm expecting 8 tracks, no lightweighting out then you lot!

how could you not make something weird from these CRAZY samples.
i mean, beenie man saying /something that sounds like "wake him up"
BruCfX: over drived filtered delayed dripping sample, and then reverses, because doing a reverse sound is difficult
BruCi3leep extended sounds like 2 detuned suqare wave son different octaves distorted.
Bruci3leep the square waves normally, with tremelo. it's so easy to take tempo based effects and us ethem in tracks, on samples. because when you pitch up or down a sample that tremolo still works to so many different tempos.
BruCiBasS would be a good sub if not for the delay on it. delays on sub cause phase cancellation.
bass2 also delay
bass one as well, i would have appreciated raw sounds over the procced ones, with distorted samples, time strech makes them sound like shit, and distorting them again helps to add o that.
BruciEcho unfiltered, is good, i wanted more samples like that.
BruCiecho, for thoes of us that don't ahve access to EQ to filter our samples.
BruCiPad another nice raw sample
DROP THE BASS this si going to be a lot of songs saying drop the bass.
gateman break is bad ass
and tighten up also bad ass.
so to be creative with this, and do time strch filter and delays you have already done that with almost EVERY sound. so we have to add delays onto dealys. some of the atmosphereic stuff sounds good.
you want the tracks to sound different but you picked the MOST generic vocal sample ever devised by any hip-hop, drum n bass, or reggae song, combined. DROP THE BASS, T. there is a t at the end of the bass. it's most likley a high hat...
i didn't do much better on that last track, but that was more of an experiment, we live and learn. now i know what NOT to do next time around, so it's not a waste, it's still a new process. now time to give you the most fucke dup track using only these samples.

I do a comp for you! All I get back is complaints.
Anyway, I've used the vocal samples, but not as vocals
I like the way you have written how I made these sounds mate. Funny thing is, they're all wrong
Saying that, I always use inconventional way of creating these sounds
Hint about the sub. Cut up the bit you want. Don't use the start!
Bruci3leep: Triangle wave put through some distortion, a delay with some graduating reverb on it, then eq'ed and put through a moving filter. Done as a short note.
BruCi3leep extended: Same as above, just a longer note
Could go into the rest, but I can't be bothered at the moment
I used NO timestretching in these sound!
I wasn't going to put any vocal samples in. Just a last minute thing, they were sitting on my desk top. sorry
Anyway, got ya link

Almost finished my entry. Took me about 6 hours in total so far. Another 2 and I should be there.
Btw, those samples are top notch Brucie.

That is the lamest excuse I have ever heard for excusing ones self from a remix comp! You could of used the "wrote a top notch tune, but my dog ate it"
If your excuse is genuine, I do feel sorry for you
Looking forward to you track Tomos
I havn't heard your ones yet Halph, I darn't listen to any of them in case I have written the same song
Still working on my track. Just need to smooth of a few edges
