just a simple question really, i'm going to play on my mates electric drumkit, not sure of the model, its quite new.
what i really want to do is record a drumtrack and make it into a wav file, or mp3.
does anybody know if this is possible, depending on the model etc?
is the only way to convert a recording into a midi file?
i'm a bit clueless on it really, if i could sit there and play a 3 minute drum solo, then convert the recording into a wav then it'll be just what i want.
anyone have any advice or suggestions on this topic??
Many thanks
Glim

I own an electric set, the Yamaha DTXpress III.
You can record audio directly out of the output jack, most sets have a 1/4" stereo out. Also most sets have a MIDI out- you can connect this to a sequencer if you have a MIDI cable and a USB converter box. I believe the drum pads trigger different note values so you can play a layered drum kit with it.

Nice one mate, it looks like the kit i'll be playing on is a Yamaha DTXPLORER, i'm looking it up now on the internet and i think its got the same function as yours, i'd be using cubase so i could just plug it into my m-audio fast track pro then record it into cubase as a midi file, if so hooray!!
