The lack of automatic latency compensation is one of the greatest drawbacks of Pro Tools LE. The full Pro Tools HD version automatically fixes plugin latency, but this feature has been left out of the cheaper version. It is one of the most annoying problems in LE and it takes up a lot of time to fix manually.
There seems to be a solution now in the form of a plugin that can help fix effects latency in LE: Mellow Muse Auto Time Adjuster.
It is an RTAS plug-in for Pro Tools LE/M-Powered which measures the latency on insert effects and can automatically calculate and compensate for it. It works on audio and aux tracks. It works on software plugins and even on external hardware.
This seems like a very nice way of tightening up the timing, it certainly beats having to tweak track delay manually on every track.
