As with any book versus film discussion the book usually wins. That's why I love to read so much.
Didn't read this one yet though, I'll put in on my list.
I bought 10 books this week alone, so it's way down the queue.

as book vs movie, the movie is different, but it's ALL done in the spirit of the book. the movie actually GROWS from the book. it's not one of those butcher jobs, but it's not a replica of the book. it's a growth. it's so odd to see a movie be different and still be so the same.
David Fincher with Edward Norton, Brad Pitt, Helena Bonham Carte all of them just embodied the spirit of the book so awesomely. but then the book is so amazingly written. it's written in a new style of writing that people are aware of. it's 'post-literacy'. 3 sentence paragraphs, sentences only 10-15. some only 1 or 2 words to give REAL punch.
so sharp, fast, direct. and the movie translated this, but done so well. end of story. i still reference it to this day. the only time i have seen such a great anarchist in Movies is not until the Dark Knight Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker.
