New to the forum just need some help with drums really
throw me everything there is about mapping, layering etc..
even the noob starting like snare positioning !!
I dunno what you already know so i guess i'll start at the very beginning
What software you using?
For starters make sure you have a good collection of breaks, find ones with character, some classics like the amen and the think break, and some more obscure ones that you find along the way. Use a program like recycle to chop em up into individual hits and then import the breaks into your sampler so you can play them back at the required tempo, usually around 170 bpm or thereabouts. you can either rearrange the hits to make a different pattern or just leave em as they are if your just starting out.
then get some decent single hits (kicks snares hats etc) and layer them on top of your break. this will help you fatten up the break and also learn about the structure of your break (positioning of the hits)
then mess with the volume and pitch of your single hits untill they start to blend in with the original breakl.
you can then apply a high pass filter to the break to remove the lower frequencies and maybe layer another break on top.
This is all very basic advice so im sorry if its stuff you already know, i gota go to work now but PM me if u have any other questions
