Please check out my new track 'Tricity' and post your comments here!
This is the first tune i've uploaded onto the site, it was made in Reason 4 and ive gone for a minimal rolling vibe. Its not finished i just need a little feedback. Mixdown is shit

the beats need a bit more top end and could probably be a bit looser maybe even apply a bit of groove to them, when it drops i really like high tone its a nice sound for sure, the bass sounds a little undefined but im really feeling the second more midrange bass.i think if you let the beats open up a bit more and try to incorporate some more groove and funk into them could be a good tune

Cheers Demure
How would you reccommend adding the high end?? layer up a high passed break?? EQ the original break? I totally agree that the track needs it, not too sure how.. will be experimenting with this untill i get something that sounds good.

me personally would add a ride break and a shaker part just to give it a nice crispy top end
then filter out what you dont need so high pass the rides and high pass the shakers so that they blend with your break

good shout mate, your advice is much appreciated. I've tried layering a high passed amen break and cutting out some iof the quantized hats i had in before, got it all saved though so if i fuck it up i can always go back to it. The thing is the more bits i add to the break the harder it is to make it sound good in the second bit of the tune where ive edited the drums and it gets a bit scatty. practice makes perfect i guess.

Welcome on board!
Not many guys on here do minimal, but I do like what you did. Not much to complain here.
Make sure you compress the sound as much as possible without things getting ugly when you do minimal. Every sound has to be punchy and phat as the overall arrangment is very thin.
A tad of reverb (very little, barely audible) on the master can make the mixdown sound fuller and warmer. Use some delay on those choir stabs to fill up the whole thing, plenty of tricks to have a full sound with just few elements.
I do wonder what you will do to keep things interesting when the tune gets full length though.

the beats need more high end, bass more meat if you want it to pass on a minimalist vibe like this
like them bass licks, vibe is alright
bass could do with more identity, its a bit bare.
nothing much else to be said, keep at it

cheers for all the advice guys, really is much appreciated. am workin on the bass, its just a low passed sine at the moment, maybe i'll layer another bass on top with some mid range action. have re-done the drums and layered a high passed amen behind them to add some high end, made them a lot less scatty and more regular.
