Halph, I thought your tune was interesting but that vocal just confused me. Also, I think you need to reduce some the low bass frequencies in the bass. It sounds really boomy and dominates the mix. Imo, you'd be better off if you replaced the vocal with some guitars and made it into a proper punk or NIN tune. The tune got better after a few listens but I'm still not feeling it I'm afraid. That's just my personal pref tho.
Brucey produced the better track imho. Totally love that funky beat and bassline. And the overall sound quality is good. Well, for Bruce anyway.
Own up Bruce, which MP3 website have you stole this from? In terms of improvements, I would like to hear that bassline a tad clearer. Perhaps by adding a touch of distortion to give it some bite? Also, a few more beat edits would be nice, just to mix it up a touch. Apart from that, well done, really like it!

Ha Ha!
All my songs sound good, you just need to play them on a crappy old stereo.
I did want to do some drum edits and add some distortion to the bass, but I rushed the track in for the comp, unknowing at the time I could of had another week.

Hopefully soon mate. We had another competition a couple of months back. That time, we had one break and made a track just using sounds from the loop provided. A real challenge.
Hopefully these competitions will become a regular feature. If anyone has any obscure jazz/funk/obscure tracks among your records, rip a small piece and send them in for the next comp.
here was the last comp. might need producers rights to read it though

I WON!!!
I would like to thank all the people who didn't enter. Without you failing to produce a track, you increased my chances no end
Nice one Halph Price, you can keep your Throwing Star as a booby prize. I think customs might deport me if you sent that to me.
Right then, the important question, whens the next comp?
