hey ppl was wondering if anyone could help me , ive been listening to a lot of psy trance and trance lately got a bit bored of my dnb recently and im having quite a bit of trouble making trancy pads and leads , as ive only really made dark gritty stuff. so any advice would be greatly appreciated and i know theres a lot of ppl with gr8 knowledge on here thanks
well i don't make trance but i do have some trance influence in a few of my dnb tracks, with leads i normally use pretty basic sounds - eg 2 detuned saw / square waves running thru a couple filters (i use the notch a fair bit), write a basic melody, bit of reverb n delay and thats about it
edit: also have a look at the presets on whatever synth it is that u use, a lot of synths have trance type sound presets, have a look at the patch and see how it was made, try doing something similar to give u an idea

A lot of synths from ImageLine (the guys from FL studio) have tons of Trance presets, just analyze how they were made.
Synths like Albina and Predator also have good presets for trance.
The big deal in trance is good pads/strings and good arpeggiator action combined with nice chord progressions.
