Easy dot be crew
New dubstep track in progress, but need some help with this. Having trouble making the drop sound heavy enough and a little trouble mastering the bass.
Also i have a problem with this snare. On headphones it sounds a little too loud but on speakers too soft. any help?
Apreciate any comments

On my headphones the snare sounds a bit too loud. I haven't tried it through speakers tho (don't have any
) but I suspect it would be too loud on them too. It sticks out too much in the mix I reckon and doesn't quite gel.
Bass sounds pretty good to me. I'd like to hear more sub tho. I can hear it thumping in the background but it'd be nice to hear more melody from it. Atm, the drops are needing a touch more beef.
Enjoyed the melodies (wouldn't say they were Eastern tho). You've managed to bring the whole vibe of the tune together.

The snare is too SOFT on speakers, thats the problem im having with it and i dont know why, thats one of the things i need help with if anyone knows why its doing it and how to fix it.
Also with the bass, i did say im having trouble mastering it because it cant be heard on headphones but is too loud on speakers, as well as the low notes being too quiet on them too.
I did mention these things in the track info
Also the reason i called it 'eastern' is because it was inspired by 'eastern jam' by chase and status on the intro, mainly because of the bongos and the way the bass is brought in.

are u using monitors (headphones and/or speakers) & soundcard? if ur not getting an accurate representation of ur sound that would explain it.
just had a listen i agree that the snare does stick out a bit much, if its not comin out on speakers maybe try takin some of the reverb off it, can stop it from drowning in the mix

anyways likin the arabic style melodies man
Yea i am using headhpones, taking them out, then using satelite speakers + sub and a basic 5.1 soundcard and repeating. So you say its the reverb doing it as well? Ill give it a go. Thanks.
Any ideas what i can do with the sub though? ive tried to manipulate it using EQ to boost the low notes and dim the high ones but im just not getting anywhere and i dont want to change the transposition of the notes. Do i have a choice?
Also any tips on how to make a dubstep drop heavier? im fine with dnb but dubstep is too slow for the way i build up tension
safe
well i noticed u had some verb on ur snare, and its somethin i picked up in one of my own tunes not so long ago, everything sounded sweet on the headphones but on speakers the verb was causing certain sounds to lose their impact and definition in the mix, thats why i said give it a go
(if that doesn't work try using a different snare or try a couple layers that have a bit more punch, then just get the levels right and see if they work better)
with ur sub it shouldn't be too complicated sometimes a very subtle boost at 50hz can help also try using some heavy compression on ur sub to even it all out, another thing u can try is some subtle tape distortion on the sub to make it a bit more audible and give it a bit of character
btw i don't make dubstep but hopefully some of the advice will help
edit with tension drops just listen to ur fav dubstep tunes, see how the pro's do it to get an idea, its just about using whatever elements u feel will help build things up (and sometimes a bit of silence just before the drop can always help define it more)

Really nice idea here!!! Really loving that gypsy minor C scale shot. The problem is the bass line its too jumpy. It need to be more sustained and heavier in order to CARRY the groove cause now it dances on it. Try to use some analog drum kits with those old intense 80's sounds in there. I use those to achieve that intense drop I need. This really is a great little tune...wouldnt mind a remix!!!! no seriously...
nice melody. arabic scales are cool i havent used em in a while, the tracks buildin nice too lookin forward to the drop, when it drops the snare sounds a bit too loud really and the bottom end doesnt feel there if you catch my drift could really do with tightening up ie compression and cuttin below what you need. melodys are really strong though
potential to be good
