I've sampled a bass from a synth and loaded it in to a channel in fl8. when i replay it, it triggers the whole sample but I want to be able to control the length played by the amount of time I hold down a key. I'm thinking it's something in the channel settings.....?
Thanks

im not the most prolific kontakt user but you need to open the mapping editor in a new instrument, then in the browser find your sample and drag it into the keyrange ( in the mapping editor ) then from there you can drag the side to choose the key range it covers, and if you want to lare two samples just drag the two into the mapping editor covering the same keys

If you want to play a sample in the way you described, you need to CRF it. There is a control, when you open your channel wrapper, just above the sample waveform pic, called CRF. Use this to set up a cross-fade loop, and then play your note just the time you want it.
Or set up the ADSR envelope, which will enable this without CRF.

so, if you load a smlple in to fl, into a sampler, you can change the ADSR settings, to have ADSR, and then you can control the length. and release. and attack, sustain, and decay.

Well, he said it's for a sampled bass, so I thought crossfade loop will be more suitable
