Ok, I've been looking for days now and can't seem to find any advice on making that dirty vowel sounding bass. vowel sounding bass There is a sample I've taken from a track so you know what I'm talking about. Thanks in advance for the replies guys
peace, Tuff
Yeah basically if you want to get the nasally vowel vocal sound out of a waveform you need to utilize a formant filter. There already is one in Reason in the Thor or u can download that dudes above me. But check it out and feels its effect.
nucleon at the FL forums made a very very wicked voice synth in sytrus,
check it out here if you're an FL owner, it sounds very much like Pendulum's synths on their last album(s)!
i see 2 possibilities: either use a formant filter (just not on a plain sine, mind you) or a vocoder.
whatever you choose make sure your bass sound has enough higher frequencies for the filter to have something to work on.... DUH
Thanks for the help guys, i've found my sound now and i'm currently putting it to use in a new track. Hopefully it'll be up on this site soon. Not been on production for ages now so... lets just see what happens

Yeah, I suggested to him to use vocoder. I see it as the fastest and most practical way to achieve the purpose.
