Please check out my new track 'Dotbe Competition' and post your comments here!
This my attempt for the current competition using just the Alvin Cash - The Getaway sample.
All sound are from the break. Most are timestretched in reason and then cut and mutated again. All drums are from the break supplied, with obvious effects - compression, distortion, timestretching ect
This isn't finished. Just after a bit of feedback. Thanks
take it you'll not be entering this in the competition man???
will be pretty difficult to keep the artists name anonymous now that you've uploaded it!! we'd planned to do so that the voting is fair

Well actually, I was planning on entering a version of this. Looks like I will have to give it a miss now then. There was nothing in the rules about previews and also I would of thought more of the sites contributers to be bias toward certain producers, you lot must think differently. I appollogise.
If a mod could remove the track, it would be appreciated
It's a good attempt for the competition I think, but I missed the part where things start flowing into a more regular tempo. It seems to cut at the end every bar or two bars, where it would've propably been more my sound if it were full bars, and the cut-off bar as a variation.
I think the drums could've been done a little more detailed as well, I don't know if there's any higher-frequency highhats/cymbals supplied for the competition, but even if there aren't you should manufacture some. It misses some highs.
Best part of the song is the beat as it is at 1:35

No man, you can still enter it...the initial thread just stated that once everyone had sent me their entries, I'd put them all into a pack labellled tune 1, tune 2 etc to keep it anonymous..its a competition and meant to be fun....it's just that people will know that your tune's yours before they vote.....no big deal yeah???

OI!!! No nicking my tune!
Looks like most of dotbe have heard it now, so no point deleting it now
Might have to go back to my riotcore punk track then
I'm already looking forward to the next comp. I reckon 3 weeks is to long though for these projects. I get to tempted to put them up
Maybe 45 minutes next time
All feedback is appreciated, will do ther reviews shortly. Things are a bit hectik for the next couple of days with work
The mix needs a bit of work but the FX are brilliant!
Really impressed with the amount and quality of the FX. Mix-wise, a couple of suggestions - I'd definitely reduce the stereo panning on the beats. They are very, very wide. Some of the FX have a lot of stereo panning too. Makes the mix sound a bit flabby. Also, not too keen on the snare. Sounds more like noise to me, I reckon it needs more bounce.
Listened to this a few times now and I'm still really impressed with how you've managed to get those wicked FX out of one break. You should do a .be FX pack or something.
Good stuff my fellow metaller.

Wow! Thanks Tomos. A bit of recognision and about time
The track was really easy to make. I cut the break up, timestretched, filtered, compressed some sounds and resampled some of them bits, then processed them live in Reason for the mix. The errie synth was hardly audiable at first, as it was a stray end to something else, thanks to, dare I say it... REVERB! I just cut that bit out, resampled and normalised the volume and it pretty much looked after its self.
Personally, I quite like the snare, it is a bit over distorted, but I like the industrial edge.
Thanks for the production tips, I didn't know it was panning much. My setup is pretty simple to say the least
Really looking forward to the next break comp. You won't be getting a preview on the next one
