I'm using reason 3 but, nevertheless, add foldback distortion that makes it quit grizzly sounding, fiddle around abit with it though, 'cos it can kinda kill the bass if there's too much distortion and it'll sounds shit. lower the octaves, and if you're using maelstrom try the clip and fiddle around with that too...

Well I'd say take a blank combinator, bang some bass preset instrument devices in or make some from scratch, layer them, give them some slight variation add some scream4 distortion maybe and some eq, some more distortion a bit of tricky cv wiring and errr maybe with luck voila.

I remember the anguish trying to get my bass's to sound any good at all. It really isn't an easy task. The key is to read about sound science and what constitutes a healthy bass sound to begin with, then focus on making it "angry". Second learn everything you can about Reason and what ever plug in and instrument does. Then after a lot and I mean a lot of time and practice you will begin to be able to shape the sound as you head it in your head.
oh ruff is rough, ok well that obviously means you takes the same synth duplicate it in one combie, have one synth high-passed around 200hz, and the other low-passed around 100 hz, and then have the 100hz low-passed play a sine wave.
the other highpassed at 200hz, you make ti 2 sawtooth detuned about 15cents up and down . then distort and eq and play both synths at the same time. it'll sounds deep and rouch as hell if you do it right.
then the skill is to make it twizdid but you said ruff. that's ruff. ruffly.
