I’m afraid this process is going to continue until shit is sooo damn easy to make. You won’t get an unique sound that way, true, but who wants originality in this commercialised world anyway?
And also the reputation of being an electronic music producer is getting worse and worse due to that. At the moment it’s still something special when you tell people you produce your own music and then show around some clips of what you’ve created with years of experience and hard work. How would it feel then if any idiot can just download some crapy piece of software, make a beat within 5 minutes that sounds not bad as the program uses good samples or whatever and that might even sound as good as a tune you made with a way more complex method. Could you still be proud of what you do? It’s as if you trained years for being a good soccer player and then nike releases a pair of shoes that score automatically for you all the time and every noob kicks ass with em.
I know this is all a bit exaggerated and unreal but somehow it’s the trend. There haven’t been so much tutorials on youtube 2-3 years ago and if you typed in FL studio, reason, cubase or whatever the results were manageable and just a few pages long.
Anyways.

if we both had the same plug-ins and mics and samples, we would be able to make any type of music and even if we tried to make the same song, it would sound completely different.
the producer makes music, not the program.

that is true but the point was that a program encourages you to do things in this or that way thus making far beter results than to actually think about what youre doing and make choices on your own
in the end its not the programs fault as you said, its the people. its the formulaic tutorials, because IMO the art is in the work, the work is the art
much of the time spent trying to achieve something I come up with something else, but at another time, that experience of wrong will be useful for another thing altogether.

what pisses me off that they invest in this sort of crap and for example XBOX games while they close down Flight Simulator department. the flight sim might have reasons other than financial though. in any case like theyre trying to dumb us down (fuel for another conspiracy theory!)
