I actually think this is a really good tutorial
and its inspired me to get my head round the Thor more! for any synthesis in Reason I almost always use the Malstrom
what I love about doin this kinda thing in reason is the absolute top notch stability. No glitches, no hangups, modulate to your heart's content and it never crashes on you
had a go last night, didn't quite get the sound i was after (i need to work on my distortion settings) but its just wet my appetite for the Thor - i am officially in love with that synth!!
yeah ur right BH on the stability thing, my only problem occurs when i rewire with cubase on my laptop - i get latency problems :shakefist: haha back to standalone i suppose

also the automated controls on it don't come out in steps, that's also anti-aliased. so it always sounds so SMOOTH.
and as this guy shows, it helps make a wikid reece.

yup Reason gets slagged left right and centre and yet some big established dnb artists still use it and its a great program
its potential is simply amazing, i feel as tho i'm still scratching the surface, just gta know how to use it and ofcourse its not about the program, its about the producer using it
yups, nice tutorial. It actually reminded me of Subfocus' tutorial on Massive, where it's all about having your lfo's gigving some movement to your sound, and then finetweaking those modulations into an effective but on-the-point production technique.

I recreated the bass from this tutorial, but for me it doesnt sound the same at all, prob i missed something from the beginning or something. I can't seem to see the difference. Have a look
The THOR is definitly where its at when it comes to the thickest basses possible. I have like A LOT of super ultra nasty Thor bass patches I have programmed. if you e-mail me at riveraccorsi@hotmail.com I will send em right over and you can check them out and use them or whatever. one thing about reason, i fucking love it's filters and distortion. they're bamf.
the filters used on thor are far better than on any other device. the fact thor is modular AND it can serve as an effect unit on its own (that is theres audio inputs as well as outputs) is the sole reason you should get reason 4
