Please check out my new track 'The Mantis' and post your comments here!
EZ peeps, this is the first DnB tune I've made in a while, I've been messing around with some ambient stuff so I think it has rubbed off into my DnB. This is about 95% complete..
Please let me know how my production is coming along (any and all aspects!)
likin atmospheric intro, i see the ambient influence, which is nice but doesn't have a real impact at the drop, which is what i like about dnb, that's probaly a personal preference, though, maybe with a dirtier bassline underneath it would be more my cuppa. Mix down is good too, and musically aside from some of my personal preferances, preety good too, nice 1

Tune is too relaxed for my needs.
I thought you would keep the tearing sound from the intro and drop with that, but the drop was way to calm. Needs that tad extra energy imo.

I like the intro and don't think its too long. Don't like the snare. It sounds like over compressed for me. The sub is wicked, but some variations could make it more interesting. In the second part i'd drop another synth sound maybe with a new melody. Anyway i liked this one good work.
Cheers ppl so far, yeah I've listened to it pretty intensely and it's definitely overcompressed (my limited mastering skills) . It sucks in and out quite a lot and therefore the snare sounds pshhh instead of crack. I'll fix that..
so ya mate, likin the title first of all - i am a fan of the mantis technique - don't test!
beat is nice, clear kick, snare is ok (although personally i'd have a bit more snap / hi end in there) does sound a tad overcompressed like krisch said tho, nice break rollin,
sub is nice n big, sits well with the kick too
overall its good but i think you could have somehow generated a bit more interest (be it another synth or maybe another layer on the beat)
very nice intro very ambient see what you mean. theres some nice sounds in here, however sounds rather lacking in the bass department and the whole song sounds a bit empty to me could be a bit more techy, needs more sounds maybe some strings in there or even another break on a half speed or something levels sound tight n polite overall this track doesnt really appeal to me [not my sort of thing] peace to the atmosphere crew
very ambiant, drums in the build up sound to robotic tho, and the sub in the main part is overpowering the track, try sidechaining or some eqing. i reckon this could be a cool tune when these probs are taken care of, all my opinion only!!

Opinions are all as important as facts tho so it's all good mate. Sub is just a volume thing, I mixed it louder because it pretty much holds the bassline together.. probably got a bit bass happy tho lol.
So the .be not really feeling this one. Shiiit, lower rating than my first tune. Oh well, I spose it's all a learning experience. Cheers for ur help on this one guys, much appreciated, but it's back to the drawing bard for a revamp methinks.. either that or onto the next tune
I like it mate, although it is a tad too relxed for dnb I reckon. The beats sound a bit lazy, they could do with a bit more punch and drive. The melodies can stay relaxed, as long as the beats have energy the tune as a whole will have energy. I do like the ambient, spacy vibes but you could do a lot more with them. Maybe a few extra layer to thicken the sound would be good. Good tune tho.
