Add about the similar quantity in brown sugar and mix with the flour.
Slice some butter and mix into the brown sugar and flour.
With your fingers, after washing! Rub the mix in with the butter until the mix resembles bread crumbs.
Peel and decore several large cooking apple. Granny Smiths will do if you can't find any proper cooking apples. Slice the apples into 1-2 cm cube with a knife. Be carefull. If you are unsure how to use a knife, ask your next door neighbour, local clergyman. Failling that, ask a policeman.
Place the apple cubes in a suitable cooking dish and mix some brown sugar and a bit of cinnemon in. Make sure the filling is nice and flat.
Pour the mix over the apples and flatten. Place your baking tin in the oven at 180 degrees for about 40 minutes.
Warning: Ovens make things hot. Ask you local barmaid to remove the dish.
A good thing to speed it up is to boil the apples with sugar before putting in the oven, just until the apples are soft (not mushy) - takes the edge off the apples a bit.
Also try with rhubarb
(my favourite)
