Another experimental song. Still not understanding the Eqing stuff as much as I have been told. What do you think? ....I put a multiband compression on the main? good....Bad....
Anyway ...just a novice so all criticisms very much appreciated!!!
Ez, first up just reading that I'd say definitely get to grips with EQ before you start playing around with multiband compression, Unless you know how to use it, you could be doing more damage then good. The mix down sounds fairly good on this, some parts sound a little bass heavy, especially that bassy pad that comes up in the breakdown, I'd be tempted to cut some of the bass on it to allow the sub more punch and acheive more separation of the parts.. and I might say the snare was a little thin if I was feeling particularly picky, but other than that it's sweet. It's got a great vibe this song, really deep. Great work mate.
Cheers bro awesome. Yeah I was real feelin this when creatin this song. I concentrated more on the content rather than the drums so much. I will have some better songs comin out later with better drums and more my style. It just gonna take some time. maybe a year ....or two
I'm still hopin i get accepted for this sound engineering course next year....havn't herd yet!!! but hopefully
ah nice!
good organized structure and beautifull ambience, anyway: i like the whole idea of the song
maybe put in some more elements to make it sound fuller, i have the feeling the whole ambient shit could sound fatter(not louder),
more more more
and i think the mixdown sounds ok, so multiband
compression on the main is fine imo!
bye!
hello mate
yeah really mad intro i like that crazy pad sound
very atmospheric almost spooky. actually really like those hihats u got on the beat, nice n shiney
kick is very thin i'd defo read up a bit on EQ if u wanna get ur beats right (particularly on ur kicks n snares, get em to hit the right frequencies - kick 80 - 110hz, snare 150 - 200hz). i reckon that snare works a lot better than the kick (kick sound itself could also do with beefing up in addition to some eq work)
maybe some more fills here n there on the beat as well to keep it interesting
really like the idea tho and the musical ideas, the whole vibe of it!
Sounds way overcompressed, just listen to the kick and the snare, they seem to get pushed into the tune through tiny holes, turn that low end a tad or 2 down so the drums will have room again.
Otherwise it sounds clean and pro though.
The piano sound is a bit on the cheap side imo. Did you use just 1 sample or a rompler?
