Please check out my new track 'Cpu' and post your comments here!

made in cubase with kontakt & massive. drums, bass, sub, reeses and synths are home made from scratch.

I used 2 synth presets which i (heavily) tweaked & processed: 1 z3ta and 1 massive

the rest is completely home grown!

Enjoy and drop a comment, still workin on it,
stopped now because i'm running out of cpu Smile

hi there Happy nice drums very hectic / manic / frantic ur style (i remember from ur last tune) nice one Wink

reece is nice - needs beefing up on the low mids i reckon (maybe another layer?) dark shizzle, this one has potential of being a really dark tune man (damn cpu!! lol)

only other main suggestion would be to get a bit more of a hook (use that reece more!!)

if ur cpu is too much try bouncing some of the sounds u made as wavs?

peace

like the punch to the drums n hevvy wen kik drops in.i think the intro is phat the whole way through-luvvin that synthy sound as it gets grimeyer-then the harsh synth just before the main drop-wich i wud prefer to cum a bit earlier- but is worth the wait!fair play-sounding nice n grimey-look forward to hear finished version

I am not so fond of how this sounds. It is very static sounding, there are no dynamics at all. There is a lot happening when I listen 'through' the compression, and this could be a very interesting track, but the compression flattens it all out to a very boring homogeneous piece.

Could say some more about the tinny sound. the big gap in your lows, the lack of impact of the drops, but this all comes down to the same thing: overcompressed. Or as it is said in the rating page "The sound is completely ruined by overuse of effects or compression" Wink

I'm sure that if you look at your meters in your DAW that it will hit 0dB from when you start the intro and will stay there until you press stop. If you see this happening a little bell should start ringing in your head - something is wrong here... How can the drop make any impact if the intro is already at full scale?

Now this is something that is easy enough to fix. Throw away all your compressors and it will already sound much more lively and interesting.

I built this tune with the flat sound in mind; I don't want to much dynamics.

I wanted to build this "wall of sound"-effect, which I couldn't accomplish without maximizing. (or do you know how to get to a similar effect without compression?)

And aren't you exagerating a bit when you say a tune doesn't have a big dynamic range it automatically sounds bad? I mean, we're talking about dnb here...

It would indeed be "boring" to listen to a dj-set or a band performing whitout any dynamics, but IMO dnb tunes are something different.(the dnb-style I refer to is noisia, phace, c4c, teebee)

I admit the there's practically no dynamic difference between intro and drop, but that's it, I don't feel like the rest sounds overcompressed. (or maybe a little bit :p , but not "completely ruïned")

And what do you mean with "gap in my lows"?

And:

quote:
How can the drop make any impact if the intro is already at full scale?

Well: use high frequencies (or (a) certain band(s)) before the drop, use the full spectrum at drop-time: full impact without worrying about dynamics Wink

sick sounds esspecially the drums. think it needs some more low mids in there though and something else happening near the end with some more contrast. maybe some pan in the breakdown. nice one.

[ps] dynamics might have helped a bit on the drop but i think you did it justice by filling up your frequency ranges

I was lovin the build at the beggining kinda sounded like the build from the new Upbeats track called "creep out" you should check it out if you haven't herd it. Sounds awesome. When the song dropped into the Kick snare I felt there was maybe just a little to much low end in both of them. I was kinda excited to hear something change in the song but not much happened. It was good though!! much better than the stuff I'm producing at the moment haha!!! Good track overall and impressed with the elements of the homegrown stuff!!! Awesome. Big ups to Massive aye love that program
