Work is in progress on a custom player made especially for us. It is almost ready.
Thanks for the link but I am firmly against using another closed source player. I don't trust these companies anymore after the trouble we went through with the Wimpy Player. There is no way to know how well it is programmed and if they will keep supporting it when it breaks in a Flash Player update. And the amount of work involved in getting it to work can be phenomenal.

http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/ ?
works for me (with (windows)adobe flash 10 in IE, Firefox) and is 100% free...
easy to embed, easy to manage
and you can modify the GUI of the player if you want (.psd or so included)
Couldn't be easier

We're still on it.
It's the embedding in a php environment that is causing things to run anything but smooth right now.
Just playing an mp3 is easy.

any way I like this Site and Id be happy to donate if it all worked well.
as you can see, I have spent quite a bit of time helping others with there tracks but now I can only upload my own and selfishly take advantage of others efforts at reviewing it, I hate it. |
Same as. This is becoming a pain. I know its not your fault, but there must be another way around this problem. I can't listen to any tracks at the moment and I am trying to keep my new computer in good condition by avoiding installing new software which I don't need.
Would it be possible to listen to tracks using MPEG audio streams, like I do when I listen to radio on the net? They're usually very good quality.

The old player is never going to work with Flash 10, no matter how hard you try. If you want it to work, download Flash Player 9 r124 or Flash Player 9 r159.
We're still working on the new player. The new player works now with Firefox, but has issues with the progress bar on IE, Opera, Safari and Chrome.
If you want to test it, type a '2' after the word 'vote' in the address bar, like this:
http://www.drumnbass.be/vote2.html?id=3827
The new player works with both Flash 9 and Flash 10, but it has some issues on browsers other than Firefox. The upside is that it does play the music on all browsers.
So your options now are:
1. Install Flash 9 r124 or r159 and use the old player on whichever browser you prefer. Downside is that it's an old version of Flash.
2. Use the new player on Firefox with whichever version of Flash you prefer. Downside is that you have to enter a '2' manually in the address bar.
3. Use the new player on your browser of choice with any version of Flash and put up with a malfunctioning progress bar.

I noticed that you have got tracks from me that go back ages and ages, if that is the case with everone then there must be loads of memory sitting there doing nothing when you could play better Quality mp3s and possibly with a much simpler player???

Maybe we should start using the new player now, despite the issues. It's better having a player that plays the tracks in all browsers with some lost functionality, than having one that only works for a minority of the users (most seem to have Flash 10)

ok I have put the new player online, enjoy
The new player only works without problems on Firefox, with other browsers there are problems with the progress bar, and the indication of the track length stays at 00:00. But at least it plays the music

Nice one.
As a Firefox user, it works perfectly for me. (It doesn't loop like it used to though. Is that intentional?). Even for those peeps who don't have FF, as least downloading FF is much easier than trying to download a previous version of Flash, which wasn't always sucessful and a bit of a ball ache.
