Just another point yes a spectrum analyzer is useful ...

The one's made with the vocoder are really basic as well you are limited to what you have to work with.

I personally prefer to use a standalone one that works direct from my internal audio signal - The program is called Spectrum Analyzer Pro (SpecAN - for short) which not only does bar graph readings, it also displays the peak values in text and red for ones that are too high. - About $100 and a bit mind.

That's because we have an older version thaty has a slight bug in it that doesn't make the program automatically adjust to your monitors screen resolution.

Which means they never added the code in c++ or whatever they used to make it.

I've seen the latest version and that's even better !

Computer interference (signals) is still read by the analyzers for some reason.

Only slightly mind.

Your computer hums and buzzes, it does al kinds of things an some of them are picked up as interference for some reason.

The rest I don't know.

The reason you don't see much bass on the A-setting is because the low end is filtered.

It is important that you understand these settings. This A-setting is called "A-weighted", and is used for measuring the loudness of sound systems in concert halls etc. It is absolutely not suited for analyzing your music since it will ignore most of your bass.

You should instead use the flat (non-weighted) setting, and analyze some other, professionally produced, music with it first so you get a feel for how it responds and how the curve should ideally look. Also put some pink noise through it and see if the curve is flat, or if it slopes down towards the high end. It is vital to know this or you can make the wrong assumptions and screw up your mix.

A frequency analyzer does not help you at all if you don't know how it works. So read the manual, all of it Big Grin

Hmmm I use a spectrum with bar graphs and peaks as opposed to the curve ...

For me it's just easier to read and understand.

Thanks for the info on the settings mind Chron Bigup
