Wow, that intro is fucking original, like it a lot. The way things are "rolling in and out of eachother" is fantastic, especially that 1:16-->1:21 part is superb. I love this back to basics sound a lot. Good amen, soulful organ... maybe it should have another big fat buildup where it ends now to give it another go, would be very nice. The main part should be more present (repeat it).

The track really surprised me when it dropped with the amen.It has lots of mood swings for sure and does have a very epic feel to it.
I would just figure out a way to tighten up all the different elements to make the track more unison.
Cool track though

Loved this from start to finish. Lots of fresh, cool ideas. Kept me interested and wanting more. The melodies are really strong and quite original. It's deffo not a typical dnb tune, which is a very good thing because I think dnb can be too formulatic sometimes. I particularly like the melodic aspect - you should definitely do more of this style. I notice that this is quite slow by today's dnb standards. As a result, it's got a really nice groove. I can definitely hear traces of bands like Orbital and the Smashing Pumpkins (check their 'Adore' album).
EQ-wise, I think the whole thing could be a little more clear and the bass frequencies more prominent. It's very mid-orientated.
Apart from that, this is super.

nice to hear something more unconventional sounding - good work
atmospherics work well, dreamy pads floating in the background - i like
very chilled number i think you could possibly add some more elements or get a bit more consistency going just to help the flow a tad
very refreshing i enjoyed

The intro bit is pink noise with crazy granular armageddon added to it :p (squarepusher influence coming in big style!
)
I can see exactly where you're coming from with the inconsistency bit though, it seems to be a bit of a trademark of mine that my tracks are a bit schizophrenic and fidgety, and while i play to that deliberately, I can see how this track seems especially disjointed
I think i havent done too badly focus-wise considering i'm just recovering from a catastrophic artists block that has lasted me all summer, and I intend to clean up about 5 tracks (this one included; theres a limiter on the master output to keep the clipping down for the moment but sshhhhhh
) and upload them here
I'll start returning reviews on tracks when I've finished my Uni research (feckin snowed under with work but my research i hope to finish tonight)
Cheers for your input guys

I don't really think of myself as a dnb producer, I feel my style is more like jungle, so i don't often have particularly fast songs and being an amen junkie i like to have a tempo slow enough to have the amen chugging away so one can hear the edits better (the only time i speed up to around 170-200 is if i'm doing a breakcore or really experimental track, but i have yet to make one like that I'm proud of but i hope to soon!)
I can assure you there's plenty of bass in there
dnb.be appears to have processed the song after i uploaded it so it's not sounding great, i can barely hear my bass now!
I have been toying with adding a really quiet kick at a normal frequency on the clanky tramen but as it stands there is plenty of bass and the kick from it below 70hz...
It probably sounds a bit muddy in the midrange because for the moment i just whacked a limiter on the whole lot to stop clipping until i have time to master it properly, it should sound a bit more defined when i have an album-ready mix
one thing that i can't seem to get right is the piano volume, do you think i had it too loud? it seems to show up really differently on different speakers and i don't have much to judge it off!
Cheers

Pretty cool track overall. Intro certainly grabs the attention of the listener.
I like the opening break but I think it is a bit too distorted, it also sounds panned wide.
I think the transitions could be a bit smoother, but the different sections are nice as they are. I like the more liquid style in the middle of the track.
The transition into the more darker, epic vibe is nice. I love the half time break, but I would axe the "wooo, yeah!" sounds as they are a bit cliche.
Needs a better ending but I'm sure you have something in mind...

I can make the first break less stereo...ey easily enough if lots of people start requesting it
as for the ending i was thinking of fading it out and then back in again playing triplets (i heard a mudvayne track which did a similar thing once, i quite liked the effect) and then i figured i'd end it with crazy granular stretching note like in the intro...
I think i'd say the tracks finished, i dont intend to mess with it it much more, ill only really be doing the odd bit of cleaning up and minor tweaks and of course a more interesting ending but i'd say 95% of the musical content is there already

I was aiming for a post-apocalyptic, desolate feel, ive always been one to but heavily distorted drums under lighter sounding melodic parts, i find it makes it sound pretty imposing... i guess it's a bit of an acquired taste... i don't really know what kind of stuff you listen to usually, but i'm a big fan of grungy production a la old skool jungle, thats not to say i can't be arsed to polish it, but i like a little bit of harshness that ya don't often find with super clean standard drum n bass these days

Any criticism comes down to a matter of taste in the end, if you feel that you've accomplished the feeling you were going for, you win

reminds me of good old LTJ Buckem. Really liking this one man. The organs or whatever it is are just spot on. Bringing nice melodies all over the place. You have chosen some really good sounds dood. Enjoyed this one a lot...could be longer though

I opened it up today to do the tweaks other people have suggested and i've had a wave of inspiration
nearly all of the drum hits in the final section create tension leading up to snares like an explosion and i'm just trying to figure out how to wrap it up better than fading it out
