Please check out my new track '??????' and post your comments here!
Hi you lot. Been a hectic few months, so I havn't been around for a while.
This is the first tune I have done in ages. Started this about five hours ago. The inspiration came from attempting to do a remix of Digital's Deadline for a laugh, a competition on http://www.back2you.co.uk/
more of a dubby tip, so if your more into pendulum, you aint gonna enjoy
I ended up using my own samples in the mix, then got rid of digitals samples, minus a vocal and drum loop, which I have damaged beyond repair...
Anyway, I still need to sort out the intro, so this track goes straight into the drop.
Track was done with Reason 3.
Hope You enjoy. Any comments are appreciated. I will be doing some reviews very soon

Hey mate, long time no see. Welcome back to the fold.
The tune isn't bad but still needs a tonne of work. Obviously, you're only 5 hours into it, so there's plenty of time for that.
The intro is ok. Starts off sounding quite ethnic. It's not bad but there isn't enough tension before the drop. Needs more drama and excitment.
Once it does drop there's too much reverb for my liking. It's very overpowering. Also, the drop sounds empty. The sub is EQed nicely but I would deffo think about adding a dirty bassline in there and perhaps a synth melody of some sort. Check out Philbee's tunes who does this sort of thing really well.
The kick is sounding quite flabby to me, there's not enough thump. Snare is better but still needs an extra later I reckon to stop it sounding like a jazz snare. Needs more high end.
As the tune progresses you need to think about adding some variation into the structure. It gets repetitive very quickly.
Keeping bashing away at it.

cheers tomos.will check out Philbee's stuff. is he on this site? There is no real intro. straight drop bro. Personally, I love reverb, probably all thoses early 90's parties and dub that influeneced me.
cheers bro

I think that the delay and reverb muddies it up somewhat. I like some of the pad noises in the background.
Drums are a bit week at this point, I normally like to narrow mine down to mono for more punch. At this point the kick sounds a little wide.
As others have already commented the track needs more of a hook and some sort of structure, while I was listening I became lost as there are no real solid cues to orient yourself.
If you get an update up I'll check it out as well.
Drums definately need tightening up, great rhythm goin on though. Quite hypnotic if you focus on it.
It does sound a bit all over the place structurally but I ain't gonna judge that right now as you ain't really far into the tune!
I look forward to hearing the next edit

Thanks for your comments MinasTirithGuard and the link aswell
I do know what you mean really about the reverb. Reverb is a bit of strange thing, because you get used to it after a while and you don't really notice how over used it is until you hear something else. I quite often hear that, if your using it, listen to some other tracks to help focus better on what you have done.
Interesting that you like the pads. Well there are none
It's just the reverb and delay. I am considering sampling the pad sound and using it seperatly. Then I can do more with the vocal.
Also mate. Thanks for the link. He does have some mental tunes there
Thank you Phyella.
Glad you like the rhythm! I will try finding a better kick. It is actually just a standard reason one. Not quite tight enough really. The other drums are are old loops I made, plus the bongo loop from the digital track, that I have changed a bit.
