Alright folks, I'm a bit of a noob so would appreciate absolutely any feedback at all. This is just a little ditty I've been working on. Please note that I do not have a set of monitors so getting anything sounding great isn't going to happen right away! You got a whole lot of things done the right way where others often need to practice for a year. Mixdown is pretty silent, it all sounds a bit empty in the first half, it needs some FX and things to keep it interesting. When the lead synth pops in this pretty much takes over the whole thing, there's a bit too much lead going on and the melodies could use some more work. Keep doing this and you'll see that things will improve! I have to admit that the lead synth was pure indulgence on my part, I liked it so much I think I was letting it dominate. You're right, it's quite empty... pretty bare at the minute. The main distorted bass needs to be heavier, the kicks need to be louder and thump more. For a 'noob' tho, your production skills are pretty impressive. The structure and programming is tight. Melodies aren't too bad but they do get a little stale after a while because there isn't enough variation or excitement about them. I'm working away on the track now. I actually toned the kick down prior to me uploading it as it was a bit too thumping at the time. I'll try to get it in balance later.
