"Clownstep is a derisory term, used by certain listeners to describe a certain style in a negative way, it's not a subgenre as such, but most producers would feel insulted by the labelling of their music as "clownstep"."

Mixdown sounds very mono. Some synths tend to go off tone. Nice and full sound scape, the vocals are clearly from a game, they need beefing up. Good tension building in the breakdown. Quite entertaining piece of sound actually.

that synth in the intro needs some warmth maybe layer it with somethin else. what synth are u useing btw. and i would just drop the vocals alltogerther i dont think they work. after the drop...now were rollin sound much better but again that synth needs some fattening. the distorted bass is awsome tho. your tracks defo have a sound of there own.

thanks for the imput guys, like I said, I just finished it, posted it up here, then listened to it on another system... I noticed the fight scene sample did need some work, I doubled it with a flanger, a slight roomy reverb on it, turned the cut off down a little bit and lowered it a little... as far as the synth in the beginning, I was going for a build effect, so lack of fullness was desired temporarily... I then noticed that the sawtooth bassline was eating the synth a great deal, I did some eq and slight ducking work with the two, I also took battle drone's advice and started to read up on my stereo knowledge, turns out, I didn't know what I thought I did, I have since adjusted the stereo seperation slightly which allowed the lead to pass through more and the saw bass to sound untouched, which was nice, after taking your guys advice, it seems to have improved a great deal, still needs a little bit of work, but this is the whole point of posting previews up here in my opinion... and to answer you question money shot, everything is from scratch using massive... I pretty much use massive for everything, I have other vst's I"m fond of, however, I find massive to be quite versitile in the sense that I can picture a sound in my head, and work towards making it, or in some cases, find great sounds by accident without having to use presets... and money shot, what would you recommend for the synth for fattening, detuning? right now I have the osc.'s slightly detuned, I wasn't going for a powerful lead, just a nice additive, but I'm definetly interested to hear what you would do... and thanks again battle drone... I have no read up on my stereo technique and I'm learning alot...

ez mate Happy

yeah i like the little fight scene!! you've already said u worked on it so im sure it'll sound phatter - wouda been a good idea to get those punches to really punch thru if that makes any sense Tongue

really like the bass melody, and the sounds all fit well together, the whole thing flows really well in terms of structure

my only suggestions would be a few more fx, just more stereo stuff. oh and something that is a bit selfish of me to ask - i would love to hear u make some beat variations with the punch sounds and maybe an "aargh" at the last snare hit lol

great work overall this man, and nice to hear ur stuff, always refreshing Big Grin

nice brotha... always nice to hear from ya ketz... and to be honest, I thought about making a drum loop made out of punches and groans, I ended up deciding against it, I may go back and experiment with it, and as far as fx go, I was trying to think of other ideas, since the tune is titled "knuckle sandwich" I was trying to go with fight scene's and things like, without getting into bruce lee samples n' what not... lol, but yeah man, always appreciate your imput...

btw, what's the deal with "ez", I'm american and it confuses me, it's like "hello" and goodbye, when I talk to my friend's in the uk, when we start talking it's ez mate and when it's goodbye it's ez mate... maybe some can fill me in on what's up with uk slang... lol - and if you want I'll teach you ebonics (LMAO)

LOL u know I ask myself sometimes why do i use that term so much, think its been a recent thing for me, i always thought it was an american term thats come to the uk or maybe jamaican? (i'm thinkin "ez nnnnaaaw" lol or is that Ali G i'm thinkin of?!) but yeah normally i don't say it (only to mates) i work in an office where theres a lot of older guys like in their 50s n 60s and to them i say in my poshest accent everday "mornin" Smile

so ya man nice about the tune, atleast u got a picture of where u wanna take it, i i'm afraid am still guilty of going off on tangents and go wherever the tune takes me (now less than before tho, takin a more structured way of producing nowadays) Big Grin

lol - really? an american term? - at first I thought it meant "take it easy" which is real common for goodbye (obviously) but then I was greated with ez, then in the same convo, ez was used as a salutation... I just figured, weird english shit - lol... I wish I was from the uk so I could say cool words like that... lol - but I hear ya as far as tangents, I'll start with a sound in mind, then get side tracked and end up with a whole different groove all together, one of the beauties of making electronic music...

and thanks wally d, glad you dig it...

thanks for the kind words buddy... I get paid for playing parties sometimes, but I'm not signed and haven't released any tracks on a major label... yet. That's the over all goal, I think for most, to turn this into a career, one day we'll get there... since you said you were new, my advice to you would be to ask lots of questions and really utilize this board... most of the folks on here are pretty kind and have legit advice.
