Recently I've modded an original xbox controller so it could be used on my laptop. (here's how to do that)
Now i'd like to use it to control ableton live.
i'd like to have
- Joysticks: controlling trackvolume
- D-Pad : switch between tracks
- A-Button: Start track
- B-Button: Stop
- Left trigger: kill/unkill low-end
- Start : overall start
- Back : overall stop
and the other ones to launch some samples from the drumrack or something
anyone done this before or knows how to do it?

hmm look at the software Max/Msp, u can preety much do anything, I've seen some of my m8s use it at uni an they've used the wii remotes to do shit like u want, and other crazy stuff. its really hard to use tho, but there might be some patches on the net somewhere an i think u can link it up to ableton live. Not sure about just in ableton tho ive never used it.

If you can use the xbox controller as a regular gamepad on your pc, and do a google search for 5 minutes, you will find something like this: http://informationsaustausch.de/?p=85
and it might work

Try to find the controls' map on the internet. It will show you all the midi command mapping on the joystick, if there are any.
Or find a joystick-to-midi converter, which will translate the signals to midi. Like here: Using a games joystick as a MIDI controller
