Hey dotbe,
This track came about through figuring out some bass processing tricks with Jez (Binary Havoc). Done in FL 7. Any comments/crits welcomed and appreciated.
Nice orchestral intro. I like the drum patterns, but the beats need more power. The snare coould have a bit more high end. I like the melodies in the background.
You should to make some variations on the bass because its a bit boring after a while.
String melody sounds nice and so does the piano. Your bassline kicks ass and it fits well together with the rest, though it could be maybe a tad more upfront. As Kirsch mentioned, some variation with the processing would be good…man you could go crazy with it!
Not too sure about some parts where you have the bass playin alone, like from 44 sec on. It sounds not really convincing without any lows there…a bit powerless. The sub layer that goes underneath it later does the job for me…sounds very warm and full btw.
Hmm I guess a breakdown with some half speeded hip hop drums would work really well (yes, I love that kinda thing).
Some more tweaking and beefing drums (punch) and bass (variation) wise and you’ve got a killer tune.
hi mate! man heard a clip before, and im gna say it again - love the orchestral stuff in the intro, really feelin that love those melodies, really gets the emotions going!
so i know the other guys have said vary the bass but i also know how much effort u put int creating just those sounds u already got there and they sound really sweet mate, proper!
if i compare this to some of your earlier work on be, you've defo come leaps and bounds, respect
a very clean production overall, master is wicked as well
my only suggestions would be get a bit more on the beats for groove (1 more layer?) and if u can be asked to make another tiny 1 or 2 bar bass variation
nevertheless, wicked tune mate, quality stuff, love it!
hi MinasTirithGuard. nice tune! very chilled epic intro. i like the strings and the dark synth combo. its fit very well with the piano riff. i think the break needs a bit of beefing and spicing up to show off the rest of your atmospherics. and a subtle constant shuffle to give the break a bit more energy to go with that sick flicky lead synth. you should also try adding a long rising build up of some sort or even a slight pause before the drop. and slap a nice crunchy cymbal on the first kick as it all goes down to maximize impact.
Ya think I heard a clip of this and to regurgitate everyone else the orch. stuff is the bees knees bruv, drums are wikkid from what I can hear (comp speakers)
bassline is nasty and like ketz said it prolly took a while to get it rolling like that so maybe just process a tad more...for a couple extra bars that is
neways solid tune Mr. Minas keep up the good work
i'll vote 2morrow when I hear it through good speakers

Thanks a lot for the reviews everyone. I'm a bit burnt out on this track but I'm writing something new in a similar style so I will definitely incorporate your comments into the next piece.
Good to see this tune on .be.
I remember commenting on an earlier version a while ago and I'm still loving the strings and piano melodies. That area of musicality seems to be your speciality. The intro is particularly strong.
The beats are definitely sounding better but I would still increase their volume a bit because they get dominated on occassions by the other melodies. The edits and patterns are really good tho.
The distorted bassine could sound a bit bigger and wider imo. But it's still very good and the twistyness is spot on. Some cool edits in there too.
Overall, it's good mate, really like it. You've probably stopped making edits to this, so good luck with your next tune. Always look forward to your tunes mate.
Oh, I just remembered I forgot to answer your question about where I get my vocals from. Most of them come from Breakbeat Paradise. Some of them are quite cheesy tho so I'm quite choosy about which ones I use in my tunes. There's lots of other samples on that website too.

Epic stuff man, nice work on the orchestra! Sounds like a film score or something, proper feeling that bass aswell. Not gona bombard you with any more advice cos it's all pretty much been said before me. But yeah, feeling the groove on this, The half a bar of halftime effect you got there is sweet work.
melody wise / musically this track is sweet. I'd put a bit of reverb on the strings/piano sounds a bit dry. drums maybe a bit bare. really impressed with the melodies tho can't stress that enuf, an that synth over the bass is wikid 2.

intro is good, dark bass sounds nice and beats are cool, but maybe a little thin. those padz that run over the whole track need turnin down imo, i wouldnt run them thru the whole tune id drop them after the drop. that way they have more impact on the breakdown.
