i recently got a virus and had to wipe my computer and reinstall reason and, although i still have my old stuff, when i open some of it it doesn't open and just says:
"The song cannot be loaded because the sample 'anytime' used in this song seems to be damaged and could not be loaded"
...however, when i play the sample through a media player it comes out normally.
(btw, anytime was the sample name)
thanks alot...hope you've got an answer, although it's more on the technical side.
Try opening the sample in an audio editor like audacity and rendering a new copy of it.
!?
Sometimes when you reinstall windows whatever it renames files or moves them etc and can sometimes damage the binary|ascii code within them or whatever it's called I've forgotten.
Have long since left the world of computer maintenance behind when I moved to Spain 5 years ago.
sorry to report... but ... it didn't work it still comes up with the same thing.
"The song cannot be loaded because the sample 'anytime' used in this song seems to be damaged and could not be loaded"
the reason file doesn't open at all, so even though i've imported and exported the file through audacity, it's the same.
my other work, if the samples aren't there, it does actually say search and procee3d to let me know, it's only in the case of the 'anytime' one. It's pissing me off because it's one of my best productions!

i tried that but nothing seems to work. reason doesn't recognise the sample, eventhough i've got it again. i don't think that it knows where the sample is located... FRUSTRATING!!!
this may be a long shot but try uninstalling reason and reinstalling it? keep your rns files safe backed up in a folder and re load em up?! if all else fails, try turning it off and on again
(botch IT logic) soz my only 2 pence worth!

eh ?
Skip finding any samples it doesn't like !
Then replace them directly in the samplers on the reason rack.
maybe with other samples first.
save RNS file and then try reloading the original samples you were using back into it.
i worked it out now, the exact location for the sampples had changed so reason was searching for samples that weren't there and so wouldn't open up, i tried moving everything to my desktop and... MIRACULOUSLY... IT'S NOW STARTED WORKIN BECAUSE I THINK THATS WHERE THEY USED TO BE... (before my computer got fucked)

Aye I never can be arsed with auto search for lost samples ...
takes too damn long.
Yeah, I've never understood why the search on PCs is so fucking ridiculously slow. I've given up using it. The search on Mac's is brilliant, lights years ahead of Windows.

Tomos we were talking about the search & proceed form that pops up when loading a Reason song file.
Oops.
