I had a track after I'd been producing for a month or so. I was really proud of it then, so much so that I sent it to a bunch of folks on here for feedback. Looking back on it, I'm surprised that they kept helping me out, even though I've gotten much better since then.

yeah its true the satisfaction you get after making a new tune when you get started is short lived. that gradually repeats and carries on for a while, for me i think it was a year or two until i started to make tracks that i could listen to happily a month afterwards.
i'd say 3 yrs was about the time i started to feel comfortable with my productions.
i still look back at very early material with fondness then there are the tunes where i've lost the flp for and i cant hear as i just want to re do them etc lol.
it is a steep learning curve, one that stays steep for a long time, you never stop learning only when you get writers block that is..
if you love the music im sure you'll keep at it, if you have any friends into the scene then involve them in producing, if not then cool, i didnt have any mates where i lived that were into it as i moved away from my crew at 17yrs old, but the internet is a wonderful thing, it lead me to this excellent site where you can get advice and tips, see what others are doing and sometimes how.
actually i owe a lot to this site, it really taught me alot, still does, if you want to climb that steep learning curve then this is the beat place to help you.

Ive been producing for 8months and ive made 3 tunes. Of which i hate them all, there uninspiring etc etc. I just continued to practise me beats, and melody variations. I feel this is the best way.

First track took about a month and it was crap. But the joy, late night hours and lots of red bull was all worth it. First track was so inspiring, that i continued with production and still produce some stuff as a bedroom wannabe producer.
