When I export from Reason, I have trouble with the settings.

Can anyone tell me what the best settings are for exporting?
Like, what sample rate? Or, should I turn on dither? (can someone explain dither please? lol)

and would it be better if it was exported in AIF/AIFF or WAV?
that's another big one.

thanks so much!!

Sample rate:
- if you want to publish on CD or on the internet using a flash player: 44.1kHz
- if you want to convert to lossy format (eg MP3): 44.1kHz or 48kHz (mind that 48kHz is not compatible with Flash)
- if you want to publish on DVD or vinyl: 96kHz

Dither:
- this is a system that increases the fidelity of very soft sounds (reverb tails etc) at low bit depths (16 bit) by adding a bit of noise to the audio. I have explained this in another thread, use the search Big Grin

AIFF or WAV does not make any difference, just pick one. They are just different container formats for the same data.

Reason only has 2 output rates.

44,100 16bit with the option of dither.
Or 44,100 24bit.

44,100 24bit is higher quality than the 16bit with dither.

sorted.

Dither is usually used if you are downsizing from 24bit to 16bit you add dither as it's supposed to add noise or something - can't remember - to keep the track playing smooth.
