I've been messing trying to synth some sub bass. I've been trying on various synths including z3ta and rapture with varying amounts of success. I've been using a couple of sine waves, one detuned, etc. through a lp filter, etc, etc. What I'm finding is the lower the frequency of the wave the quieter it gets! Does anyone else get this and if so what's best to get some volume, should I just eq it up a bit?

if your speakers cant reproduce a sound it doesnt mean it's not there. try some analyzers. on top of a sub try waves maxxbass too but be careful not to overdo...

Mmm.. Waves MaxxBass available as part of a number of bundles which seem to start around 4G's
That's expensive bass man!
I paid around 200 notes for my Fostex PM0.5s, so I'll be pretty gutted if they are my problem. Perhaps my M-Audio FastTrack Pro is the problem??

instead of eqing up which distorts frequencies try notching down everything for example from 80 hertz upwards. but that depends on where the other bass sounds are in the spectrum.
first of all get this http://www.buzzle.de/buzzle_download.php
pretty fast fft, its free, the best is fft5 since for bass you dont need all the other analyzers that they crammed into the higher number versions
now see where are the frequencies. if theres enough peaking below 50hz theres deffinitely enough sub but you dont hear it using the sound equipment you use

Or maybe you should get a bit of distortion on that bass? Try TubeVST - adds analog, warm distortion to sounds without destroying the sound (depends on the ratio you choose, though).

.. ok, got BlueCat's FreqAnalyst, and yeah man the bass is there at exactly 50Hz but I loose it audibly before it decays. Reckon I might need to sort a sub after all then.

Hmm, try contacting the makers - they might have a solution to your problem. Never happened in FL Studio to me
Give me more specifics for the problem (do other VSTs crash, where, because of what) so that I can pinpoint the problem and probably give you a solution.

.. seems only when trying to intialise the TubeVST plug-in. If I remove it from the VST Plugs folder Cubase loads. Probably the Pace drivers are shit or something! Cheers for the link to antares anyway, I'll have a look a bit closer tomorrow, I think I'm turning Chinese man, time for zzzs! Cheers!
