sweet for that ketz,no i havent got reason yet because the police have took my new apple mac, which i was going to get reason, dont worry it wasnt for nothing serious.i will try to learn tutorials at work but i find i learn much better if someone shows me what to do.rather than books ect
Visual tutorials are good basis for learning too man !
Youtube video tutorials are also a good place to start.
I have some step by step graphic tutorials for Reason 4 on the site you can access via the banner in my signature ! - Good place to start.
Also another good way of learning that I find the easiest is to take someone elses rns song file, patches etc and dissect them and then rebuild them from scratch until you understand what each process does/achieves.
That's how I've been learning.
Another good way to learn is listen to songs on here and read peoples reviews so that they stick in your head as what might be wrong in the song so that you with some luck will remember the advice and avoid the mistakes.
You want to learn how to make your own sounds from scratch then Jimmy C aka Ghost is the person to ask for advice on that !
what reason programe would you say is the best one to learn or the most commonly used?
kool for that sentinel ill av a look at those step by step tutorilas you have
Each addition of reason is the same visually the only difference with each release is that they add a few new synths, fx mods, update the piano roll etc to improve workflow.
Just simple updates.
I'm using Reason 4, Ketz uses Reason 4, Jimmy uses Reason 4, most of us on the site via my banner have updated to Reason 4 also !
Why because it has the awesome power of the Thor synth !
Also the new automation system now allows you to automate the bpm/tempo/time signature via the transport device on the piano roll.
Why have you chosen Reason as your DAW !?
There aequite a few others out there to try if you find it's not quite to your taste also.
Most of the people on here produce with FL Studio/Fruity Loops.
Or a combination of FL/Reason & Cubase/Nuendo etc ...
lol Senty you should become a salesman for Propellerhead software mate!
But yeah Reason is a nice program to start off on as its like an all round package (obviously u still want to download ur own samples etc) as it has a nice range of synths, samplers, effects etc etc - that said it took me a while to get any decent sounds out of it initially (FL i got faster results but that was just my personal experience)
But i'm not going to say don't use FL as thats what i started off on years back and its a great program as well, the one downside of Reason is that it is not VST compatible (vsts are bascailly external plug-ins that u use with ur program incase u don't know) and FL IS vst compatible, but no sweat Reason has a "rewire" function that enables you to sync it with programs such as Ableton, Cubase etc which ARE VST compatible
All a matter of preference mate, u might as well try downloading some demos and see what you feel most comfortable with
All that said - Reason is a wicked program, I have learned a lot about its true power recently, Logistics still uses Reason 2.5 as well!
