i am tryin to do this build up type effect basicly ive bounced down a short melody done with a synth and im looping it but with the end time getting shorter and shorter u hear it in a lot of techno hard dance type tunes/
i use fl 8, i did this using edison i routed the ouput to an other channel with another edison in (fl inhouse wav editor wiv rec) set record the input.

my problem is i want to alter the start AND end time as the sample loops.
obviously ther is no way to automate this movment.
the only way i cud come close to wat i want is 2 do it in stages and it toke a gud few takes and it still ent right.

any 1 got any good software based ideas how i can atchieve this a sample based vst mayby? it wud b good to hav sum kind of live control over it to.

thanx

(file was too big to upload 200k so ive post it under songs

you can try using fruitys granulizer, adjust the hold and attack, prolly wouldnt be the exact same thing your going for but it might come close.

I use Live, its great for anything where you need to stretch sound. If you can get your hands on a copy all it takes is:

1.) Set begining loop point
2.) Set end loop point
3.) render
4.) repeat steps 1 - 3 with new loop points
or just throw it in the sampler and automate the loop points in the sampler

can you not do that with a sampler in Fl studio? I haven't used that program in almost a decade but I remember being limited doing stuff like that.

Which is why I LOVE ABLETON LIVE!!!

Of course you can do all those things with FL Studio. Paste the .wav onto the bottom part of the playlist (now they turned it to be the top part - dumb decision if you ask me). Stretch it as much as you like, cut it, paste pieces of it, whatever.
If you want it to keep the pitch relative to the stretch of the sample, open its channel, and in [Time stretching] method list select Slice stretch (or whatever you find suitable and better sounding).
Or you can edit the sample in edison, adding regions and markers, so that it blends perfectly like a sliced piece on the playlist.

Edison is not the right tool to do this, it is mainly meant to create/edit samples, not to play them. Put your sample in the playlist or use another sampler plugin, so you can automate the start en stop times of your sample.

I don't have FL8 installed for the moment, so I can't tell you wich one is the easiest to work with.

I never said to play the sample with Edison, but to edit it for loop points and markers. Smile

I wasn't commenting on your explanation, but rather on the starter post, where I get the impression he is trying to use edison as a sampler by doing some rerouting of the signals.

Ok, sorry, my mistake.

what I would try is to put a flanger on it (maybe the preset "wide" or "weird" - play around with it) but use the automation effect (by "editing events") and have it come in how ever slowly or quickly you want... then I would add a 3xosc. set it to white noise, eq everything below 5k out of it, and edit the events of the cut off to have it it build with it... maybe I misunderstood the effect you were going for, or I don't know either... that's just what I would try if it was my tune...

"Clownstep is a derisory term, used by certain listeners to describe a certain style in a negative way, it's not a subgenre as such, but most producers would feel insulted by the labelling of their music as "clownstep"."
