still not finsihed....having real trouble trying to balance eveything in this....cant seem to get the mixdown right at all.....any ideas/ suggestions?...also if anyone can think of a title....
i like the bit at the start a lot, was unsure about it at first but it goes down well on that second listen
,l. i liked the vocal sample but thought u coulda done way more with the drop, song has a lot of potential there. bass line was fairly mad, a small bit heavier n it would b siiiiiick, maybe give it the tiniest bit more volume? not 2 sure about the vocals used after the intro, thought they shoulda been used at the start n then left.
Some sick ideas in this tune, The intro is immense. Love the bassline but it needs some more oomph in it. Twists along nicely but more volume and depth needed in it methinks. I can see why it could be hard to balance the evil bass and the strings.. they contrast nicely but i'm sure it's a pain in the arse for you
I'd also be tempted to extend the middle breakdown.. build it right up to an epic drop.. With those strings it's practically begging have one!! Wicked work mate.
balance sounds alright i think. on a quite dark track like this maybe more heavier drums would suit it better. this is a gud track tho i like. surely "anything is possible" is the obvious title as thats what the sample says jus be4 it drops, or is that a bit 2 obvious lol?

That Orchestral thing in the intro reminds me of the new James Bond movie in a way…maybe melodie wise or so.
Phaser on intro drums….well not a fan of phasing drums I gotta say. Maybe tweak it’s setting a bit imo it’s a bit to standard.
Bassline is sick.
Though I think what this track really needs is more power. More “oomph” as ctrl mentioned.
Try some heavy compression on the drums as well as on the bassline (which should be more upfront btw). Snare and kick need to be harder, just eq them a tad the sound of em in general is good and fits.
Drums edits are cool and will sound much cooler as soon as they are beefed.
finish it, all it lacks at the moment is some more heaviness and a louder mixdown!
cheers peps, heavier bass seems to be the general criticism, noted. maybe some nice parallel compression on the drums would beefen em up a bit....lol as for the title...."anything is possible" is an option but i was looking for something less obvious, kinda a word or phrase to describe the vocal sample..or an emotion maybe.
ta for the reviews
...tweaking as we speak.

Nice intro work mate, like that string violin type sound, really movie like
and the beat comes in nicely adding to the vibe
Cool vocal sample too - hey i really like the drop! nicely done mate. Yup that bass that comes in has got u all over it! wicked stuff. so yeah as u said urself bass needs some more presnece, get another synth layer underneath the one u got, give it more body and grit keepin with that melody u already got goin - gna sound phat! oh for me the hihats could do with a touch more high end - may just be me
really nicely done overall, nice arrangement too ur from strength to strength

quick run-down of how bass was made:
- started with a nice phat reece sample from somewhere off the net (cant remeber where? with a little modulation + a slight wobble.
- beefed it up with a camel phat to make it bigger and grittier and played with the lfo to get the modulation and make it wobble a lot then bounced it.
- split into 3 layers: sub, mid-range bass and high-end bass.
- sub had a bass boost around 80hz, a slight amount of distortion and some eq to remove everything above 150hz. plus some compression to even it out.
- mid layer had a camel phat distortion setting with the band-pass filter automated to create sweeps, a kjaerhaus classic chorus aotumating the wet/ dry parameter to follow the sweeps and enhance them. a fruity fast lp automating the cut-off to create the 'groove' and some eq to remove the very low-end and very high-end.
- high layer had an izopte trash to distort the hell out of it and a fast lp to follow a similar automation pattern to the mid-layer. and some eq to remove the low/ mid range and more distortion to really gritty up the high-end bit.
- all sent to seperate mixeer tracks then routed into one for some compression and some eq to remove <30hz and > about 20khz.
thats pretty much how it was down minus a few tweaks here, it basically started with a sample that was kinda close to what i was aiming for but then i enhanced it, manipulated it and processed it up to make it much dirtier and heavier.
