Please check out my new track 'The Mid Night Club' and post your comments here!
EZ peeps, So I thought it was time I put my balls on the table and see what you think of my tune. Worked on this one pretty much for a week and a half.. I know that's slow compared to some of you. Chilled roller with some dark tones in there, inspired by a documentary on Japans Mid Night Club racers. I'm pretty new to producing DnB, in fact this is the first track I've produced and finished after a few months experimenting. ANY advice or criticism is most welcome, the harsher the better. Anything you want to know about it's production then feel free to ask.
Nice quality sounds in the intro. The bass seems to be having either limiting/compression problems, just seems to be sqaushed a bit in some way.
I would work on getting a bit more punch on your kik n snare as well.
I like the composition and the vibe on this one
Intro sounds are top notch, love the acoestic feeling you create. beatz sound crisp but the snare is little too flat
could, i mean a little too low i think, i dont now sure aight. bass is nice. It indeed sounds little like a game ive got midnight club
That synth at 2. 15 is too distorted, i think
but i think the mix is not bad
it svery lively
40 percent is not enough for this
In general, not bad. The beats are excellent. Really fat and heavy. I'm not really feeling the melodies tho. I dunno, they just didn't inspire me I'm afraid. I'd agree with the Clix man about the super-fast hi hats. They are a bit strange and out of place.
Structure wise, it deffo needs some work I reckon. There's too many changes going on in one track I reckon, especially with all the melody changes and the amount of different samples being used.
The track has potential. Like I said, I love the beats but the melodies and structure still need work, imo.

lush intro....interesting percussion...build up is good....too much limiting/ compression on the track...can hear it being squashed too much, sounds uneven. sub could stand out a bit more....doesn't sound deep enough. main kick and snare could maybe use more punch and another element/ layer to the drums would give em a tad more presence...nice use of automation and effects throughout...structure isnt bad atall...kinda random sometimes but the track as a whole flows pretty well. good drum variatons throughout...sort out the limiting/ compression on the whole track and this could be really good...nice stuff!
yo man, this is good for ur first finished tune, sounds quite original too. musically the tunes and harmonies in this are good too, I think the drums need the most work in this track, maybe layer a few more breaks n stuff over the top an get a few more ghosts in there. Also, when that synth comes in at 2:20, i think it needs a bit of reverb, especially as its on its own at that point. nice1. Timmi

Cheers guys for the reviews, I was expecting much more of a slating tbh
I'll take on board everything that's been said and try and get the mixdown crisper. Hopefully I'll improve for the next tune im working on.
Ez
nice cello
bass is a bit far back in the mix
while the hats are abit too toppy
all the drums are fine except for the hats and the snrs a bit flat try boosting the eq on the snr round 220hz might help
dont be afraid to get freaky with the basslines in your tunes
theres nothing i hate more than a bassline which doesnt do much
Sounds better than the 1st song I produced. Anyway the drums are great. I think you could do a little more work on the synth/bass parts but other than that this is great. I can't see why this is a 3.5 star it should at least be a 4. Overall I like this track. I think that you are going to be great. Just keep at in make music the more you make the better you will get.

hi there ctrl! think this is the first tune of urs im hearing
yes the melodic stuff in the intro is cool, i like the international-esque vibe on this (kinda lol japanese documentary good stuff man). i think the hihats u got goin seem a bit too high endy, try n cut it on the eq slightly?
2:19 onwards i think that synth is a bit too distorted, try n calm that down a bit think the melody could be apperciated more then.
programming is nice, beats are cool snare i reckon u could get a bit more snap in there and the kick could also do with a bit mroe low end just to really give it more presence
overall vibe nice stuff this, get that beat polished man and some of teh synth work tamed and ur ontoa nice lil track here

c_ctrl - ignore RonaldoVetro's comments because he has merely copied-and-pasted one of my own reviews for a totally different tune. Thankfully he's been banned. What a dick.

This tune flows nicely. The melodies gel together and the beats are pumping pretty well too. The mix does sound a little distorted tho - especially the hi hats. They are quite irrating actually because they are nasty on the ears. I love the sound of the bass tho. Sounds like it is layered with some low strings? Makes it quite errie.
Great melodies throughout. Some vocals in this would sound cool I reckon.
For a first dnb tune, this is very impressive mate. Well done.
Do you use FL? If so, I'd love to do a remix/EQ clean-up.

Cheers guys, all these reviews have been well helpful ..It's made the next tune harder with all the new stuff I now need to take on board. I'm sure I'll manage
Tomos -
The bass is just two simple Filtered/FM'd Sine waves layered with an organ synth for a smoother tasting brew
Also I use logic 8, I don't really know FL at all, but if you can do anything with Logic files/stems/audio ..
I'd be bang up for seein' what could be done!
