I'm going to be getting my first set of turntables soon, and I'm wondering, are direct drive so much better that I should spend the 100$ extra for them?
Argh just realized this should be in the DJ equipment forum, sorry.

all about the direct drives mate! (from what i remember of mixing lol, still got my Vestax PDX 2000s sitting around) fuckin belt drives - its like comparing a an audio cassette to a CD lol if such a comparison is possible, im sure u could make a comparison with old steam engine trains etc but i have fogotten all that stuff that i learned in primary school
soz offtopic now
oh and if u wanna be a DJ then i suggest u get Technics 1210s - industry standard
someone younger correct me if im wrong, they were had had been for a while about 5 years ago lol

Wow I remember my first turntables... the gemini 100s belt drive or some shit(dj box) back in the day, closing a door in our house made the needles bounce and the turntable would slow down almost to a complete stop haha wow I was like 10 I actually ended up selling those to a friend for more than they originally were
funny you actually had to push the fuckers to get em up to speed

ive played around on those tables and believe me there just a slight bit better than the best belt drive turntable on the market, 1210s or 1200s are the way to go or the vestax pdx2000mk2s are nice(straight arm though) and like a lil numark mixer for now and then upgrade later after you save some more dough, its alot easier than buying another pair of turntables...good tables = long life
bad tables = short life and frustrating

Found something better for the same price.
Seriously, I would love to buy better turntables, but I will never have enough cash for 1210's!
