thinking of getting fl8, i already have fl5 so will i be able to move my project files and packs from the files in fl5 into the new fruity, will they be able to open straight away wiv no problems?

Yes, you will be able to open your projects in FL8. They are compatible in that way. They are not in the other way, though. You can hardly open a project with FL5 made with FL8.
The only troubles you might have is missing Fruity Delay plugin (it is there, but not in the effects list, so you have to add it manually).
