How do you reduce cpu usage in reason so you can run more combis ect?
I know you can reduce the 44100 thing down to 22000(?) but is there any other ways of streamlining the program without seriously making the sound quality poor?
I don't use Reason but I started doing my tunes in "project folders," where I have a separate file for the beats, bass, pads, etc. I export them all as wavs and then assemble them in a final project. Really helps with the workflow and cuts down on CPU usage.
eazy Brucey, I had this problem when I installed Reason 4 on my PC as the system requirements are pretty high (for an old PC), one really big project I had to reduce to 22000 but its not ideal as you are workin in low res and its nearly impossible to do eqing etc, you need to keep re-exporting at 44100 and check it that way - too tedious and defo not recomended!! lol
so Sentinel gave me a lil tip - u prob already tried it but - in preferences increase CPU usage to maximunm (i think its 90 or 95% on of the 2) - that can help
there is ways to optimize your pc for music production, i got an article in music tech magazine - i can try n send you a copy (its about how u configure ur Windows but i tried it and there was no noticeable difference), obviously keepin as much free hard drive space helps
anyways, I had probs even after increaseing my RAM to 1.5GB with an old P4 2.6, so now i got a laptop duocore 1.8x2, 3GB RAM, 250GB hardrive - and im sorted!
why not jus get a nice new high spec computer? u cheap bastard!
I don't care I got 175ghz duo core 2GB internal and added 4GB flash drive I changed into RAM in the windows registry.
6GB in all !
HeHe !
Yeah buy a cheap laptop !!!
Mine cost me just short of €500 and I only made sure it had a decent processor and at least 2GB of RAM the graphics card and all that shit wasn't important !
some features use more cpu than others - as with everything. for example the subtractor has a white noise generator which is a cpu hog. several rv7000's packed onto eachother can cause issues as well.
