Hey guys and girls,

Im from England and I just finished doing a HND in Music Production. I would be grateful if any of you knew where to find some SPOR, Break and Noisia samples. Extremely punchy drums and filthy bass waves?

Experimenting with darkside dnb + epic old school euphoria.

Thanks,
Matt

without wanting to piss on your bonfire, you will rarely find the samples of beats and bass they all use exactly the way they are in their songs.

Its all about the ways in which they all process their samples.

Iv been producing 5+ years and i'm still struggling to make bass like them.

Its all about practising and experimenting.

Thats cool man, Ive got some good tools I can use, Reason etc. Im new to this type of music and its got my attention. I produce a lot of euphoria/trance/house music. Would you agree in gathering as many samples as possible and producing them as a good plan?

Cheers Matt

Its all about the right samples, really.

And as for the bass, as far as i know, they make a bass sound, then sample it. process it, then sample it, then process it again etc etc. to get some mad movement and modulation into it.

and its the processes in between that give them the sounds they make

use the search function on the site and try things like "bass" reece" and "noisia"

you should come up with some good threads, as you can guess this subject is much talked about Big Grin

Also check the combinator patches i made for reason

http://www.sendspace.com/file/5mdd5d

click the link for a few patches, draw in some automation on the knobs labelled "freq"

either that or assign a knob from your keyboard(if you have one) to it and play with that while playing some notes.

Should have some warpy bass in no time Wink

Thanks a lot man. Really helpful. I dont use Reason to sequence, find it too slow and finnicky. Use FL instead (laugh if you will but its quick and easy). Im messing about with some FM bass waves atm. Ill check out the search function now.

Cheers Matt

Yeah, that wicked screaming vocal sends a shiver down my spine.

Listened to your stuff on myspace man, the drumsound you use is exactly what I need. Are they reason samples, much production involved?

Ta.

Hell no, one of the best bits of advice you'll get about reason is to forget about the sounds/samples that come with it.
Look for and hunt down your own samples, not only will you be more likely get a better sound, its much more rewarding.

And yes quite a bit of production is involved, layering of breaks, careful use envelopes filters and eq on each break as well as compression, then layering over single snare, kick, hats and ride hits etc which again are usually subject to some more eq and compression.

Not sure why people are so shocked by that

Not a fruity user myself but can't you can use all the plug-ins that you can with cubase?

So surely its not that hard to get to grips with the fact a "pro" uses fruity to make tunes

I'm sure this is common knowledge by now but Concorde dawn used to be big fruity users aswell. Morning light was done on that.

I started workin on a spor style tune last night. Bassline has taken a lot of work but it's gettin there! It's kind of in the vein of his new one 'Stoppit'. The trick is i think to get the fattest single kick and snare you can , some hi passed percussion , the right swing to the beat and then just process the shit out of your bassline but filter your highend. Once i get producer rights i'll stick the demo up and then you can all say ' that sounds nothing like spor' !
