Firefox 3 has been released, and it's fucking fast! Just one of the absolute best internet browsers out there!
All head over to http://www.mozilla.com and get this amazing piece of technology today, especially if you're still using that piece of crap called Internet Explorer!

The best new feature is the "awesome bar"
also the new page zooming is great, it zooms everything, not just the text.
Have been using it for a long time now on my laptop. There were some problems in the beginning with addons that didn't work properly, but it works very smooth now.

Woptiedoo, I've had it for months, but that's called BETA release, and RC and such. This is the very first non-beta and non RC release, smartass

I'm an FF fan too. It seems like the most easy-to-use browser out there. For extra ease-of-use I always install Goggle Toolbar. This allows me to do pretty much everything I need from the browser.

As opposed to Internet Explorer
- It's MUCH faster
- It uses way less memory
- It's much more customizable
- It has supported tabbed browsing sinds the first edition, IE has only added this feature in its last version
- The awesomebar is just awesome, no other browser has that.
- It has much more frequent updates
- It has way better security
- Bugs are fixed way faster
- It's way more standards compliant, which is SO important if you're a web designer (it's so much easier to make a website that looks right in FF and than apply some CSS hacks to make it look good in IE too, than the other way around).
- It's the sole reason IE7 exists. After MS had won the browser wars, they disbanded their IE team, and stopped development. It wasn't until FF started getting a decent amount of usage that MS set up a new IE team to make a new version. Why is this important? New internet standards are invented each year, but if browsers don't support them, they're of no use. So new versions of browsers are essential for the evolution of the internet. So people using FF are the main reason MS is even investing in the evolution of the internet. The more people use FF, the more IE will try it's best to make a better browser (and there's LOTS of space for improvement!) and drive the web forward.
I'll stop there

Ah well that sounds like a decent argument
But what do you mean by faster?
Surely it doesn't mean it loads pages faster...

Dunno if I would say that, but as more people use Firefox (or any other decent browser, thus not IE) it makes my job as a webdeveloper easier and it makes the use of new web technologies viable. So that's why I encourage it's use.

It loads them just as fast, but it renders (= shows) them faster. A browser first loads the data on the page, and then starts showing it. That part of the process goes way faster on FF than on IE.

It's the new address bar. When you start typing something in it, it will show a list of websites in you have in your history, bookmarks and tagged (which is another new function, you can add tags to sites to find them more easily). But it shows the most visit at the top, so its way easier to find what you're looking for. Eg, if you tag this site "dnbbe", that's all you have to type in the address bar, to find this site!
