i feel that my subs dont have enough to them, id like to get some more warmth to them, but dont really want to mess around with the sub too much. i listen to a lot of reggae and dub and they have got it spot on, id love to be able to do this with the jungle that i produce. cheers

I just set a single sine wave at about 60hz, then apply a heavy amount of compression with a quick attack and release, and pump it up in the mix. The heavy compression adds a bit of distortion that I enjoy in the sub. As long as other bass elements don't collide, you should be good Smile

Add a small amount of distortion. Roll off the high end if needed. It's simple and effective. Big Grin

nice one, will deffinately have a go and mess around with some distortion. i have always wondered about compressing it a bit, but have always been a bit worried about ruining the mix with it, so i'll deffinately have a play with it and see what happens!

alot of the time jus eq other parts (i.e. kick, snare, synth bass, breakz etc) can give the sub a lot more room for breathing, try gettin rid of the low end of other parts to make room for it, or as said a compressor can be good for evenin it all out so you can bring the level up without it clipping.

ah but if you distort it slightly then filter it down a touch, it then starts to go back to a sine wave just with a few added harmonics Wink

They'll warm up the bottom end and make it more audible on basic hi-fi etc.

Use heavy LP saws insted of sines. They have some harmonics and sounds a bit louder then single wave.
