Please check out my new track 'Binary Havoc - Barricade (Remix)' and post your comments here!!!
Hello dotbe peeps! Well I finally got round to remixing Binary Havoc's (awesome) Barricade tune, actually put some other projects on hold when I got into it!
A big thank you to BH for the opportunity - I don't usually get the chance to work with such wicked sounds!
Now pls bear in mind that as I have no internet connection at home, I haven't heard the original since it was first posted up - so I reckon this will sound pretty different from the 1st version.
Imported most of the original samples into Cubase SL (apart from the kick which I did in Reason 2 along with all the other bits I added of my own).
Thought that I'd finished this on Tuesday and realised that one of the melodies was messed up!! Felt like an idiot as I must have been focusing too much on the other parts (and this has never happened to me bfore) - anyways, think I've done the best job I could on it - lets hope I haven't ruined it too much!!
As always - all comments are welcome, they have been really useful in the past on helping me get better at this whole producing thang - so I would really appreciate the feedback! Thanks in advance

Cool stuff, I'm liking this. There's definitely enough similarity to the original to justifiably called this a remix, and a good one at that. The beats are well programmed. You've got some nice rides going there, reminds me of Ed Rush's old stuff in the late 1990s. And the amen breaks definitely sound like Ed Rush. I like them a lot.
The basslines are good too, but I definitely feel you should boost them a bit. They are pretty squelchy at the mo and the melody is undefined at times. If this was my tune I'd think about layering the bass with something that has a saw wave, just to give it some edgyness.
Something I'd love to hear you do in this remix would be to incorporate those excellent, excellent intro melodies (from 0.10 to 0.44) into the tune later on. I think they're super, they've got so much vibe about them. Really, really nice.
Apart from that, well done Ketzy boy, this is good shit mate.

phew! you know what Tomos, this tune really did my head in towards the end, its that bit where u say the melody is undefined - thats the part of the tune that I tried to fix, I actually used sum hardcore samples to replace those bit so they were more melodic but then it sounded lijke a hardcore tune which I didn't wat, I wanted to maintain the ravey-ness of this tune
but thanks for the review, much appreciated as always! I hear ya on the intro melodies, I love em too, just fond it hard to place in the main mix as there was so much other tuff gonig on there already
Clear intro sounds, ow gotaah love that crispy beat. nice atmoz dude, godo voice very clear and 'omnipresente'. the bass is coming, love that reaces, What do you use?, zeta orso kick of breakdown is little to dry. Overall the tune could do with some middel frequency boost after the drop. Greetzzz
oooh, this is some good stuff boss, equing is really tight on this one leme tell u - agree with the tomos on the drums - lots of cool edits gwarnin bout the place. yeh the bass could be a little bit more present but i do like the whole squelchyness of it. there is this wawawawa sound just before the drop which i rekon could be a bit louder too - sounds nice just a tiny bit in the background.
well produced stuff this tho man, will have to check the rest of your stuff
peace

Hey peeps, thanks for the reviews and glad u all r feelin this one! I did put a lot of effort into it so good to see that all paid off
@ Scaranja - yeah I thought id stick that vocal in to add more atmo (thats jus me on the mic and then pitched the vocal down), as for those wonderful reece sounds - all came courtesy of BH from the original, I added a few more reece samples of my own in Reason and just processed them quite heavily, added sum phase too (for that squelchiness)
@Shinyuri - yeah that wahwah sound was 3 synths layered up, I turned em down as the drop wasn't as effecive when they were loud but hey! Yeah feel free to look at my other stuff, although I reckon i only like 2 tunes where i got all those pesky technical bits right, I'll be sure to have a look at ur other stuff 2, i like ur sound!
@ BH - glad u liked it mate, urs was a tough act to follow but hope i did this one justice
The track was excellent. I enjoyed the build up, it really gave the tune the right flavour. The bass was very strong (well held). Overall it was very dark, and the beats, instrumentals and stuff were uplifting and dynamic and supported the pace of the tune without fault.
