I have got Cubase SX3 and feel that i am lacking in some of the basics for producing.
I have focused a lot on synthesis recently. I am very compatent with Massive, i can get some really nice sounding basslines coming out of that now. I have also spent a lot of time getting my drums to sound nice.
But recently i feel like the little things that might add some nice depth to your music and are essential for a good overall sound are missing. Im talking about Reverb, Delay, Distortion, Compression, Chorus...
The Defaults that i have been using in Cubase SX3 are poor to say the least.
So i was just wondering what you guys think are the best VSTs to use in these catagories. What are your favourite plug-ins for Reverb, Distortion etc..
Thanks.

Distortion plugins in Cubase are great. I may only additionally suggest Athares Tube.
Other tasks are very well covered with Waves plugins pack.

Yep, I agree. The Cubase effects are NOT as bad as one would think. Its how you use them that make the difference. However, I would have to agree with you that the old reverb was pretty bad. It had a particular sound that wasn't to every ones taste. I really think they've done a great job with the new plugins but have a way to go before catching the Logic effects.

Camel space is wicked for totally changing sounds, lots of presets too.
Sonnov Oxford plugins are great for eq ing compressing ect.
Also look at Izotope ozone for mastering and Izotope shutterr edit for mad effects, esp good for drums.
